Question F21 Passenger Mirror Tilt in Reverse

Hello,

I have used Google but cannot find the answer to my question it seems.

I have bought a 2013 F21 M135i without folding mirrors (LHD, Europe) and with manual seats. I don't seem to have the option that tilts the passenger mirror when parking. Due to it being a new car and since it has electrical mirrors, I was wondering if you are able to code this? Yes, I have tried the switch in left and right position, but it seems this is an option in Europe. It's a new car and curbs are at alloy height here

Thank you for your help.

I think you need the folding mirrors to get that feature.

I would think it can tilt because they are electric, but just don't have it enabled because I don't have the folding mirrors option. But it is always possible that BMW have disabled it due to hardware, I just hope it is possible to code this... Just like the ConnectedDrive services (don't have the Teleservices).

Now I have to manually adjust the mirror and it's a pita every time I park. Just don't want to kerb the alloys

It is a standard feature. Hard to explain but below the joystick/ pad that adjusts the angle of the mirrors is the switch that you slide to select the side mirror you can adjust. That switch has to be on the right side in order for it to work. Try backing up with it pushed the the left. And then try with it pushed to the right.

Not in Europe. They charge extra for this.

Bastards. Maybe our gutters are worse so we need the cameras more?

I think the tilt in reverse only comes with the folding mirrors package.

If yours does come with tilt when reverse is selected, you must have the mirror (L-R) switch in the Drivers side position. I know this because I thought mine had broken just after I got my car. I contacted my dealer and was informed be their technician of this fact.

My mirrors don't fold... Unless manually done. Could be that I have a June '13 build though

My previous 3 BMWs

Had electric, non-folding mirrors and they all had the tilt-on-reverse function.

Have you checked in Settings to see if its enabled?

I have electric, non folding mirrors on mine and not found any sort of setting for the parking tilt feature. I suspect it only comes with electrically folding option on the F20.

This is (was) part of the options pack in Australia...certainly when I purchased mine pre-June 2013.

You get this feature included if you have electric seat adjustment with memory.

This is criminal, the mirrors are already electric adjustment. BMW must be very confident in their buyers, they are very slow adopters of many standard features. My 2007 MKV GTi had the reverse tilt function AND you could adjust the the spot it tilted to unlike the 1'er. A full LED light package is another thing that springs to mind.

Ah they save all the best goody packages for LCI or late model runs to keep people wanting the model variants with all the toys.

I picked up my 125d this weekend and expected this feature. I do have electric folding mirrors and currently have the slider set to the passenger side so I will give it a try on the drivers side.

My Sept 2012 M135i with electric seats didn't have the tilt function prior to having new software loaded on to it as part of warranty work and now it has the tilt function on the passenger side mirror.

My Italian 114i with electrically folding mirrors has the tilting feature. Just picked the car up yesterday, and having read this thread I just had to try and ask the dealer Very nice feature indeed. And yes the switch has to be on the drivers side.
