Anyone taken a look at a SHO latley?

I picked up a 2014 and only have down pipes, a tune and H&R springs on it. Ran a 12.95 at San Antonio raceway...

This is a good article on them too...

They're pigs. To move that much weight it would need closer to 500 whp, not estimated crank. The ~13 second AWD automatic transmission quarter mile time after the modifications speaks volumes. It's really not a fast car.

Right! a pig of a comfy 4 door sedan with more options than said stick can be shaken at and still have a 4 second 0-60 and 1/4 mile times in the 12's. Not going to go road course racing but with a few mods you can leave many many cars wondering what that was that just drove off from the stop light and left their srt8, ss or 5.0 looking slow.

I thought about it but then heard about all the horror stories of body alignment issues and paint issues. Fix this body panel then you have to fix that one and that one and that one.....

They're ok but I'll take a Chevy SS.

Do you know what newer SRT 8's do the 1/4 mile in or what 5.0s run or a Chevy SS? You might have a drivers race with a stock 5.0 / SS to your modded SHO but you will not walk from a newer SRT 8. You might get them on the launch but they'll walk you down.

Unless you are at a prepped track the AWD does help it ALOT. May not be everyones cup of tea but if someone was looking for a big 4 door family hauler to appease the wife then they might like to know the SHO is a fun alternative.

I have lined up with quite a few srt's etc. at the track and not had a close race yet, not saying they are not fast but unless they have everything in their favor it is more repeatable in the point and shoot SHO. You may not have the v8 or the flashy style of the others but it get good MPG and is comfy.

Now if any of the srt's etc. have a few mods as well the tables change in their favor quite fast, but for the 1k of mods on mine it stands up quite well I think.

Test drove one awhile back. Great all-around car, especially for the money. Just too piggish for me, and you don't really feel the power.

Shit, well, misread your OP and missed that you have one, not that you were looking at one. Post must have come off as total assbaggery.

Oh well. Glad you enjoy it.

Yeah just a tune is 80hp, a real pig in stock form. but the SHO, Flex and explorer sport are all low 13 or better when tuned. There is a flex and a few sho's running high 11's with water meth and upgraded turbos...

Haha your entitled to your opinion, appreciate the honesty.

The car gets a bad rap and want to hear why it is disliked so much. I find it great and a real sleeper but noticed it does not get much love. Not many good milage DD's in the 12's.

For me it's because of all the unnecessary SIZE. Something Ford has been doing lately with quite a few of their cars. Exterior dimensions not representative of interior space or engineering necessity, leading to excess girth. If they had put a supercharged 5.0 in it, whole different ballgame.

Maybe it will get some love since the new GT is using the same power plant... I am dreaming a little there...

To make a car "look slow," you would have to beat it soundly with quite some margin. You claim your car ran a 12.95. In other words, barely cracking into the 12s on a glory run utilizing whatever tactics you did to do so. Once. You realize than any random, bone stock SRT8, SS, or 5.0 runs a similar 1/4-mile, right?

At the end of the day, you have a car which requires an explanation and justification on your end to anyone who asks what you drive.

Yea the new ford GT supercar will have the 3.5 ecoboost in it.

And ok they run a set time on paper, well actual track conditions to include DA make that tale different/dependant on where you are running. I am talking about by 2 or more car lenghts at my local track the 3 times I have taken it out there. Some of these cars have a decent exhaust on them but other mods would be unknown. Thats at a prepped track so a hypothetical street race would almost be hands down in the SHO's hands because of traction issues on the other side, at least here on the slippery roads of south Texas.

Are there faster versions of those cars out there? Oh hell yeah alot more of those are way faster than a SHO, but your run of the mill slightly modded one is what I am talking about.

I disagree. The Taurus has the biggest sedan trunk in the industry as far as I can tell. It's bigger than the 7 series, S-Class or A8.

http://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/t...-for-2013.html

According to Edmunds, only the Tesla Model S and Audi A7 have more, but those are technically hatchbacks.

The back seat is plenty big too.

My father-in-law has one, I was struck by the size of the thing, the height to the top of the trunk lid, and to the roof.

Almost suv height, but its supposed to be a big car. I like what ford is doing with the EcoBoost

Not the kind of motor that would make sense in a heavy sedan.

If you get a good deal on it rock it out. I would be worried about driving a Warrenty time bomb.

You are a lot safer running without a warranty on a Ford than a BMW...
