M140 suspension on 116d

Hey there, quick question.
Can I fit a M140 suspension on a 116d.
My 116d has a normal non M suspension and it has to be replaced.
I can get a M140 for a good price that’s why I am asking.
Thanks in advance.

You need a whole M140i car to enjoy it's suspension. Or you can end up like this: https://f20.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=2081856. BMW offer suspension with plenty of attention to the car's weight: the springs choice depends on the car's actual configuration and M-Performance suspension is different for pre-LCI and LCI. You shouldn't overlook that.

So in general a M suspension would mechanically fit but it has to be a pre LCI suspension since I have a pre LCI car?

From those links I included you could notice that the pre-LCI 2 Series can have LCI suspension. I can not assure you a M140i suspension will fit mechanically but it seems most likely and I guess (yet don't know) the pre-LCI and LCI difference is about weight tuning rather than fitting.

By the way, M135i and M140i are considered "M-Performance" cars rather than true "M" cars. But they still have "M-Performance" suspension enhancements available and their factory suspension, I guess , is a M-Sport one (like the one I have with M-Sport package) but, of course, tuned rather than exactly the same.

If you insist on your intention at least for looks (M-Sport suspension is 10 mm lower than the basic one) be aware that M-Performance suspension is still another 10 mm lower than the M-Sport.

By the way, there have been some suspension discussions on this forum. Here are a few:

Thanks for the detailed response. I got myself a suspension from a M140i which is known to be LCI. I only paid 50€ for it and it‘s good as new since the previous owner switched to some other suspension. My poor friend who is an mechanic is going to try fitting this in my car in the next couple of days, maybe weeks. I am gonna give a little feedback as soon as it’s all done.
