Performance/Upgrades (M-Sport/BMW M/BMW Performance/M Performance) = BMW.
Stock wheels = Mercedes.

BMW has some of the most uninspiring stock wheels across their lineup, the 3er having the worse stock wheels from factory.

Neat post. I've always liked bmw wheels right back to the e30 basketweaves and star spoke style 10.

I saw an Alpina Z8 in Cape May NJ last November in Black... great car!

Come on. Nothing touches the E39 M5 and e46 CSL rims. During that time, it smashed the competition and is still arguably one of the best stock wheels currently.

Totally agree the CSL was a defining style. Time tested to this date.

neither now. All the newer BMW wheels look like ass except the f8x competition wheels and anything with a that black and brushed finish is trash too. looks like a set of Konigs.

AMG Monoblocks were great wheels.....

BMW's designs have been much better for awhile, though.

The M6 Gran Coupe wheels and M550i current wheels are two of the better ones recently.

This is exactly how I feel but I swapped my DSII's for the forged BMW Motorsports. Probably my favourite BMW wheel ever.
I agree! Reading all the posts waiting for someone to mention this truly unique wheel

Agreed! I've been thinking that for at least a year now. Vorsteiner offers a similar design but the center isn't quite the same: VFN 507.

The greatest of all time. Simple, massive dish, and completely fits the car.

IMO style 666m is one of the best wheel designs BMW has made to date.

Although I must admit, I hated the orange accent on the M4 GTS wheels. I didn't fall in love with the 666m wheel until I saw the non GTS version!

Style 197 is also one of my favorites. Even if they are a bit generic.

I dont have issues with BMW rim designs.

I do have an issue with how those rims fit into the BMW car.

Back in the day, smaller wheels with good sidewall had good fit on the cars. they didnt look like shit. For example this is fine:

But then BMW gave us this:

and this:

and this:

Iconic wheel designs aside, if you dont want 20in rims with 1cm of rubber around, you are stuck driving those nasty looking, wrong offset, mile tyre gap creations.

In my experience fitting slightly taller sidewall on an upsized rim cured somewhat the wheel gap and also gave a bit more predictable handling.

These are my favourite rims BMW produced on 2000s cars. (stuff made in teens is a bit too fancy and delivate looking, sans a the very cool 666 which is iteration of classic BBS mesh rims).

They really seem a part of a car design, the 162s.

No offense, I like the car and the wheels, but they look about 4" too large. Kind of Donk like on that car.
