Oh dear god... and I thought landscapes would be hard to choose. I've been a serious bug photographer for the past 4 years or so. Can I just post my favorite fifty or so?

Let me know if you guy want a different theme.

Yup. I have massive arachnophobia, and I fear that will be the majority of the shots here.

I don't mind sitting this one out, but this theme may favor those with macro lenses. But that might not be a bad thing. Up to you.

i've seen in 500px some macro shots taken with normal lenses but reversed.. they get some very very close up pics.. i'm going to look into it.. seems interesting..

thanks for the nightmares

Ironically, despite my hatred for insects of all kinds, I think I actually have a pretty cool photo to submit here... now I just need to find it and re-edit it.

Thanks (and thanks for checking out the gallery). I like the pose of the bugs in that one, but think the image quality isn't really there. I caught that one years ago when I just started taking bug pics and my technique was lousy. I've never seen a threesome like that again (in many many hikes with my nose down in the weeds) and kick myself for overexposing the flash and not managing the DOF well when I had the chance. Oh well...

That's cool. We were staying in Ambergris Caye down there, but we did a lot of tours that also took us to the mainland (north, and west sides).

Lots of interesting insects here in Hawaii - spiders with a leg span of four inches or more, and centipedes six inches long. The trouble is, they're not very photogenic, and by the time I'm through with them, they're hardly recognizable.
