We're looking at CUV-s and the Evoque's size and style has our attention but still have reservations about the drivetrain and electronics. If the rendering is any indication of direction, the X3 it is well worth the wait.

This is easy for BMW. Follow the X5 in terms of design and aesthetics. It doesn't have to be a miniature version of it, but make it similar and it will be more of a hit.

The size and price on the GLA is close to the X1. The GLK is up against the F25.

The Porsche interiour is a mess with to much buttons.
The X is very clean and proffesional looking in comparison imo.
GLC to the x3 now and the AMG GLC comes out Nov-Dec 2016

Really looking forward to this new G01. The F25 has best in class driving dynamics but the interior is lacking modern design and details. I do like the current LCI refresh but not my old 2011.

The Evoque is borderline useless in terms of cargo capacity. The interior materials are pretty cheap looking as well. The Macan is comparable, yes, but if you load each up spec for spec, the Macan is easily $30K more. While more expensive, it is an absolute blast of an SUV, I'll willingly admit that.

Revolution not Evolution

It looks like design is not developing in a radical direction. The segment is full of strong competition and BMW is playing it safe (again). Needs more edge.

If it looks like anything as compared with the new X5, I think we have a champion. The new X5 is awesome, and looks great.

My X3 35i lease ends in February and Ive really enjoyed driving it over the past few years. I even considered buying out the lease, given that I've pampered it over the years and it still looks as good now as when I drove it off the lot!

But given the upcoming new design changes, Im really hoping that BMW steps up to the plate by offering improvements that many on this forum have specifically cited over the past few years in comparison to the Macan (which as much as I hate to admit it, is very impressive).

I have a few more months to figure out what I'm going to do....but as time draws near, it looks more and more likely that I'll be returning the X3 back to the dealership at lease end...and driving my back-up/non-daily car until the newly redesigned X3 gets unveiled (I hope it inspires...enough to draw me back)!

Just as we see the new F16 X6 is now fresher and more advanced in every aspect. The X4 G03 will be based heavily on the G01 therefore will be on the same level of advancement of the G01 X3. That gives the current X4 a shelf life of around 4 years when the next X4 arrives in early 2018.
Music to my ears, let me enjoy my current X4 investment and not get outshone by a new model. Hope some differentiation in the interior against the X3 and a few of the new 7 series goodies.

Seems somebody has fallen asleep at the wheel...
But these are all over the Internet now showing the BMW X3 G01 in its final production body(albeit disguised in camouflage and plastic panelling).
Different than the first mule utilising the rear of the current car attacted to the front end of the new car bolted on to the new architecture.

Evolutionary, but key elements are more sharper and edgier.

What they really need to worry about is the Jaguar F-Pace.

From a design and engineering perspective, I agree. Nothing about that vehicle doesn't look good. I do think Jaguar still has too much brand baggage, and not a strong enough dealer network, at least in the US, to truly threaten BMW's market share yet in either this or the 3-series segment. No matter how good the cars are.

It's still nice to see the industry producing great vehicles though, because things do evolve. I might have said the same things 10 years ago about Hyundai/Kia's ability to rob share from Honda, but look what happened there.

Updated May 6, 2016 with most revealing photos yet of exterior and interior:

The next gen X3 (G01) which will hit the market next year, continues testing while showing off more of its exterior and interior. The exterior is shaping up to be sportier than the current model, especially with its stylish new angel eyes, while the interior gets a huge upgrade with its full digital black panel display and extra large iDrive display which appears to be the same as that found in the 7 Series. These prototypes also sport two different sets of wheels.

The G01 X3 will begin sales with a sequence of 20(i,d), 30(i,d), and 40i engine designations. The U.S. will receive the 30i and 40i models, but there's also a nice new addition: the European 20d will be sold in the U.S. as 28d (same as F30 328d, but with the B47 engine likely replaced by the N47) - Source.

Also, as we recently showed you, the G01 X3 will also be joined by the first ever X3 M (F97) model, which should follow shortly after the introduction of the G01 X3.

Something similar found in the F01 and F10? If so, that detail is small yet huge! I was surprised to not see the F30 adopt that, instead they went with a cheaper looking, yet highly functional, row of buttons. I always felt the HVAC/buttons panel found in the F01 and F10 really effective design in terms of aesthetics and functionality/

Has a previous owner of both x3 gen (now a Macan) what I would like to see (than I cant) are improvments in interior quality (build + materials - my f25 x3 had the central air vent piece come off when I hit a pot hole!) REAL weight loss - bmw claimed f25 was 25 or 45kg lighter than first gen I call that bs I never tested in scales but it Always felt heavier than first gen by at least 35 to 45kg - if anyone ever tested I would love/pay to comfirm this just invoice me paypal) better steering (horrible eps on the f25) agricultural diesel engine - so much so I traded my daily driver for petrol S macan). The interior on the spy shots looks still cheap (like I confirmed in f25 spyshots despite scott claiming it wasnt but bmw haistly produce a hideous embelishers kit (what A joke and primary school boy error from bmw to respond to critcs) months after the car was introduced and than probably ended up costing more in the lci anyway. Whoever made that decision should have been fired. Maybe it was the people that went to china on the i project team

I prefer the x3 size and styling to the macans but it proved impossible to live with this 2nd gen shortcomings for bmw. Bmw REALLy needs to up its game if it wants my money (and I never lease!) again and force me to trade my porker. I will be in paris as I was in 2010 to check it out.

Comfort seats from x5 would be appreciated as well. Best seats ever better than in my 7

Hope this gives the F-Pace some serious competition. The Macan always seemed too pricey for what it was in the end but the F-Pace is priced appropriately. I don't like the GLC so let's see what BMW does with theirs! Shape looking good so far

X3M with more aggressive body panels, full leather and new seats (hopefully similar to X5M) would take this car to the next level.
