BWM Keys 1 series/E90 key fobs?
Hi is the E90 and the 1 series keys the same?
I have a 120i What data is stored on these keys. My car drives and is fine when the fob is in the slot, but the central locking does not work, so I have to unlock with the small key in the fob and the the alarm goes off until the fob is in the holder in dash. I only have one key. If I order a new key and all data on the old one is lost would they be able the program a new key at the dealership? I am worried I have to buy a very expensive lock set? Thanks for the advise |

As soon as you put the new key in the car slot it will save the car data. The key will have to be programed to work with your car, but the car will push the mileage and maintenance data into the new key

The data in your key is updated from the car every time that you put the key in the slot. I have comfort access in my 135i and the manual states that I should put the key in the slot every once in a while for the car to record the info to the key (especially when you are taking the car in for service). It is the same way with my '04 M3. Since I'm the only driver, I have to alternate keys every once in a while so that both keys have recent data.

Can anyone give me a breakdown of the data stored?
I presume it holds the following 1.mileage 2.CBS (Service stuff) 3. Immobilizer codes 4. Alarm codes I am confused as the car still drives but does not unlock from the fob? |
