2013 reg - Clutch release bearing failure -
My 114i has just suffered a clutch release bearing failure at only 15K and 8 months old! Dealer are fitting a complete new clutch assembly which sadly will take approx 2 weeks to arrive from Germany. Dealer have been absolutely superb, diagnosed within the hour, hire car sorted, lunch voucher for nearby restaurant while we waited for hire car, a little toy for my son he came along. Top marks to Halliwell Jones, Southport, shame about my car tho. Even my old Alfa was a little more reliable

Things happen.... but its the response from the dealer that counts in situations like this.

^^ exactly!
Any car can brake down, even a Rolls or Aston. But its how you get treated in the mean time that counts. Sounds like you got the full monty

That's good service and the way it should be, were there any symptoms people should watch out for?
As there is a parts delay don't be surprised if you get an unexpected large shoe box sized parcel a few weeks after you get the car back. It will be a box of continental chocolates and a bottle of champagne as a sorry from BMW.

It is good to hear that your dealer went beyond the normal to assist you.
From what I have read on the forum, most issues on the F20/21 have been random. All manufacturers have problems with their parts at some time. The annoying part is that the parts are never held locally. I had a cam sensor fail on my previous Benz at only 300kms and a friend had the multi function screen die on his Lexus within the first week he had it. It took Lexus 12 weeks to get the part to fix it. I recently had issues after the upgrade of the software that caused many headaches for me and the dealer. They like yours, provided me with exceptional service and a high level of care to sort it. |

I have run Alfas for over 10 years so I guess I'm a little immune to unexpected car troubles and I don't really let it worry me now. Your right, it can happen with any car and at any time. Distinguishing factor for me here was the speed and effort the dealer put in to make the problem as little and less inconvenient to me as possible. Again, top marks!
