Week From Hell

Man this was one hell of a week.. Last Sunday my dog started looking sickly.. By Monday she looked like she was about to drop so we rushed her to the Vet. Come to find out she has some sort of immune disorder that was destroying her red blood cells.. So they called in the local animal hospital and had us rush her over there.. Mind you, as the vet is telling me this the "Arms of an Angel" song is playing in the background. I swear you can't make this shit up.. As this point I felt like I got round house kicked to the face but it gets worse.

I leave the vets office and get in the car.... Hit starts and click....click...click... MOTHER FUCKING BATTERY JUST DIED, no warning at all!!!! German reliability at it's finest. I'm ready to fucking drop kick this fucking car but I'm trying to stay calm for the sake of my fiance and the dog.. My mom lives in the area so I call her to come pick us up and drive us back to the house so we can grab the 228, and hope this mother fucker doesn't just explode.

Finally we get to the animal hospital and it's bad news bears in there.... It's now late in the day and not many people are around but there is some lady cry her eyes out about her dying dog.. Depression level is now getting to " ready to slice wrists" level.. They quickly take the dog from us and pull us into one of the offices.. I noticed they had a little blag flag up next to the door and I know that shit means bad news, we are basically in a triage situation. Doc breaks it down for us that dog will need transfusion and a shit load of treatments and will probably be here a week.. Survival is at about 50% and if we chose to euthanize she would understand.. I'm like fuck that shit do the treatment, so doc tells us to say our good byes just in case...

Next day I got the fucking POS towed (insurance covered it) and had battery replaced. All this while sitting on pins and needles waiting on news from the vet. News was not good, she need another transfusion.. She then finally stabilized and was given a bunch of drugs, which made it hard for her to breath so they put her in an oxygen tank. The next day she was starting to recover and eat on her own again..

Finally I got to pick her up last night..

SOOOO this weeks grand party total : $4,500

Save your money kids you never know when shit will hit the fan for you.

Here are some pics of the dog.. No pics of the car, fuck that POS.

Times like this make you realize what is really important. Material items are not worth a pile of shit. I hope your little one recovers fully.

Adorable dog, she's very lucky to have you.
I once had a puppy that looked a little like her. I wasn't so lucky. She didn't make it and I had to pay a $5000 vet bill after that.

Sorry you had to go through this. I've been there myself with my cat. I was lucky enough to have the fore thought to take out pet insurance on my cat. He was discovered to have a heart condition which had to be put under control before he could go under anesthesia to remove a tooth that snapped off at the gum line. After all the tests, specialized vets, and surgical procedures, the total bill was about $3000. I ended up paying I think $500 maybe a bit less after insurance covered everything else.

You might want to consider taking out a policy on your dog for any other future issues. I took another policy out on the family dog after going through the issues with my cat.

Wow brother I'm really sorry about your luck ...
I went through the same shit with my Dina ( Black Riezensnautser ) I went in the middle of the night to the best university pet hosital from Belgium !
I had to leave her there ,and I will never forget the look of her eyes..she was really sad !
For my Dina it was sadly too late , and the next morning I had that phone call..May my Dina RIP
She was 14 and actually already old for a big dog , her reins were in the final failure !
Still miss her every single day !
Good to hear your litte dog is fine and saved.
But it's all about this..."It's love brother"....Love !

Prayers and well wishes to you my friend.

I've been forced in a similar situation with my bully this past summer. Luckily he turned out ok- will pray/hope the same for yours.

Glad to hear that your dog is on the road to recovery. I hope the docs did a good job and you won't have to go through that again.

We have had dogs in my family since I was a kid, so I know the bond between man and dog is priceless. It is always heart wrenching to lose a loved one, and I can tell you from personal experience, that losing a family member (whether they walk on 4 legs or 2) I truly a tragedy.

Be thankful your best friend made it through the procedure and is back home!

My sister and the last dog we had who passed away a couple years ago at my parent's house.

Sorry to hear it, but glad your dog is on the mends. Dogs become such a part of your life/family that it is even harder if something happens to them. Their unconditional love is hard to replace. I'd be devastated if something happened to my fur baby.

Sorry to hear about your dog (and week) but glad to see she's on the mend. I feel your pain. One of my dogs had a cornea transplant and has been wearing a cone for almost 2 mos. now. Learned he has a heart condition (same as my other dog) while diagnosing his eye. $5K since July. Sucks but can't imagine not spending it when they are sick / hurting.

Best of luck with her recovery.
