Take care of your 750iL, stranger

Today I was in an airport parking garage. As I drove around looking for a spot, I noticed a 750iL with its tail lights still on but no one getting in or out. After driving around for a few more minutes, finding a spot, and walking back by, I saw that not only were the lights still on with no person in sight, the car was still running! I wrote down the plate & thought I'd report it to security when I got inside, but then I went back to see if the door was open. Sure enough, it was. I turned it off & left the guy (or gal) a note.

Man, that would have been a nice trade up from my 328.

Sounds like one of those sting cars they use to catch car thiefs. Nice of you to help the person out.

Wait was the key in the car still? Doesn't it shut off if you park and walk away with the key in your pocket?

You can walk away with the key in your pocket and the car will not shut off...

I didn't check to see if the key was still in the car. I don't know the model year, but it was new-ish & in great shape.

All I know is that it was running for at least 5 minutes with no one around. I probably should have locked the doors after I put the note in, but I didn't. Hope it's still there for him when he gets back!

Even so, he didn't do anything except shut the car off and there are tons of cameras, especially in an airport parking garage.

Imagine car cant start, or he forgot the key... and if u lock it he will be in a lot of troubles. Not that like the people who do it. I even hate and dont understand why people stay in their cars for 5-10 or more min with car running.

Probably heard the engine cut off from ACC and forgot he didn't turn off the ignition.

No way. Just call BMW Assist and they'll not only unlock it but also start it for ya, as long as you can provide all the information
