He will scream so loudly if upset that he literally loses breath for a few seconds, constantly messy, she has to reason with him and barter trips to Target to get him to do basic things like bathe and brush his teeth and she's always complaining about him being a handful. This is a seven-year-old by the way. A good friend of mine is more oldschool about it, the type who takes his son out to the parking lot for a "lesson" if he doesn't say thank you to the waitstaff. We kept his kids for 3 days while they were in Tennessee and I hardly noticed that they were there.

In my country, teachers will woop my ass for not doing my homework, after school, i went to my friends house to play video games, his parents will ask me how i'm doing in school and they will woop my ass when they found out i was doing bad. I will cry my way back home. When my parents got home, they will ask me why i'm crying. After explaining to them... and, lo and behold they also wooped my ass.

Hell yea! When i have kids, i'm gonna woop that ass if any of them get out of hand. Ass wooping is not child abuse if done right.

Nobody has said parenting is easy, but most find it to be rewarding.

For those buying into their friends saying that they envy their single life - I would remind you that, as human beings, we often say things for effect or out of humor that we do not mean in a literal sense. You're thinking too much into it and using it as an excuse.

I can believe that people might envy that which they don't have. It's the grass is greener symptom. Envy in general is a useless thing to partake in.

Agreed with @KingOfJericho let's not make this into a discussion on corporal punishment and/or how it relates to various cultural origins. It would be beyond the scope of what I believe is the op's intended topic of choice.

Oh and congrats, Sara!

btw, stretch marks don't really happen until 8-9 months ("past results are no guarantee of future performance" lol)... and look into Bio-oil if you haven't already.

That's a valid point, but if you are not committed to raising kids with a full understanding of all the hard work that's involved, you will probably end up being a shitty parent and those kids won't be there for you anyway when you're old, or they'll just put in the mininmum effort out of duty.

The whole "dont' want to die alone" argument can apply to marriage as well, but even then, it's fair to ask if it's worth being stuck in a relationship just so you won't be alone decades in the future.

Ahhh the good ole days when you could just grab someone else's kid and beat the shit out of them if they were traipsing around in your yard.

I was 110 when I got pregnant and now 6 months later I am 121. I am "all baby" Not swollen anywhere, still can wear all my stilettos (which I do wear) still the same band size 32 just a larger cup size now. I'm not going to "blow up." and let myself go and gain 40lbs like a lot of women do. I have no stretch marks. I grease myself up with cocoa butter, eat healthy and I take extremely good care of myself.
my wife was 123lbs when she gave birth to my daughter.

4 months later she was back down to size 1 and 98lbs....

bitches see her walking around in yoga pants with the kids and they GET MAD BRUH !!!!

I think many of those things would provide a sense of accomplishment if I did well AND the kid gets a good shuffle of genes.

I only see my parents a once or twice per year- they live far away. They were the same with their parents at my age. I generally spend holidays with friends, so I'd continue to do that when I'm old. Women generally outlive men 😁

It'd be nice to have my child take care of me when I'm old, but one must also consider the burden on their lives- it should be a gift rather than an expectation. I think it's both selfish and foolish to expect your child to be your retirement plan

My grandpa is 82 and still traveling the world...skydiving, etc and as a consequence he enriches everyone's lives. People don't feel obligated to talk to him- they seek him out. That's the lifestyle I plan to live at that age
