New 116iA Ordered
Hello folks!
Lets see how this goes.. Down from 335i to 116i, I did not like the new 3-series at all, nearly hated it. So went for 1 series without a engine. 116iA (Alpinweiss) - Xenons - Automatic - H/K sound system - M-Sport - BMW style 383m 17" winter - BMW style 461m 18" summer - PDC - Prof. Bluetooth - Visibility package(rain sensor etc) Ordered was made on week 13 and car was made on week 16. On monday it was at Port in germany. I should get it on week 20. Last edited by putti; 04-25-2014 at 04:45 AM.. |

You did an almost exact change as I did. Went from 335i to 118d Urban to 116i M-sport. 335 was fun, but I would end up crashing or getting my license taken away since its impossible to drive like a sane person with that much horse power.
The automatic transmission I had on 118d with the Auto Start/Stop was so annoying and stupid I never got used to it during the 2 years I had the car. Not to mention the tractor like engine sound since its a diesel... My current 116i is manual and the auto start/stop works much much better. Now I have control over it with the clutch. So I can avoid the stupid annoying delay lag if you stop at a red light which switches to green the next second. On an automatic you have no control over it at all, it will ALWAYS go to Auto Stop every time you brake and the car stops. Unless you disable the function entirely which makes no sense. Auto start/stop is great, but if its left to the automatic transmission to decide it becomes the most stupid ineffective function ever. |

I've found auto stop/start fine on my 2 year old 116i auto. It has never turned off immediately when I stop and if the light turns green after it just tuns off it starts quick and I'm away.
The worst car we have is my wives VW with it's auto brake hold. I absolutely hate and it will be gone as soon as BMW's new 1 convertible or Mini convertible is released.

I made my car on bmw.co.uk 1-series editor, price was 26.900 £ = 32,800 euros. In Finland same car 35 500 euros. Prices exclude winter tires etc. The difference is much higher in car with big CO2-emissions. Like M3: UK: 68, 000 euros. Finland: 115,000 (54 000 euro taxes) euros.. |

Congrats when the rest of the car arrives.
Look at adding the side sill black vinyl with the BMW Performance decals I have seen a few white 1ers getting around with the carbon fibre boot lid spoiler. They look great on any M Sport. |

Nice spec! I really think you'll enjoy it! Congrats! Hope to see pics soon.
Semi o/t: I also think that the start/stop works better with a petrol. With my 320d automatic I had to turn it of since the car was shaking really bad when it went back on. Really o/t: My dad's ML 350 Bluetec has the best start/stop I've tried, you barely notice it at all. |

I'm not sure how it decides when to stop. Sometimes it doesn't stop, when I would expect it to. I wondered if it is doesn't stop because when I'm on a incline. |

Mini just has to many problems and is front wheel drive. BMW technical does not like the 6 speed auto and you could have the same problem as VW. I would have your wife decide with your help. If Mini installed the 8 speed auto it may change my mind but doesn't look like Mini will install. Mini has only a 3 year warranty and a shorter milage service plan than BMW. |

I really liked that car, was really close of buying a late production JCW Clubman instead of the 116i. |
