Sorry for you! Don't get mad about it! One week after I received mine a stupid guy crashed into it from the back. Total 7,000€ of repairs and one month without it! (Body, suspension, transmission...).
So don't worry you will go over it and it will be forgotten once repaired... (Not my case yet because I am still doubting if underbody has not been deformed...) |

Ouch.
I also have to park my F21 in a lower Duplex Garage. So I know how easy that could happen. But before my F21 actually arrived I grabbed some Drive Now Car Sharing F20s and tried parking in my soon to be Garage severals times and in different ways, so I'd know that my car will fit properly / I won't hit anything when entering/leaving. |

Just remember that the doors are longer on the F21, so don't smack it into the wall when you get out

Don't worry, I picked up my F21 in January and it fits all nicely.
Since it's a "double ramp" for two cars, but the guy who rents the space next to mine only uses it for 2 Motorbikes. |

Whoa!
Never seen such a cramped parking space ! Damage to your car is like...inevitable in there ? It looks like the red car is touching the roof... Last edited by hwelvaar; 03-13-2013 at 07:47 AM.. |

Usually "Duplex Garages" offer 1.50 - 1.60m in height for the lower spaces and up to 1.80m for the upper spaces. Therefore no SUVs on the lower ones.
You can lift/lower the ramp, even when a car is parked in the lower spot. The specific height, e.g. 1.50m, never changes. Obviously it's not the ideal parking space. But in cramped cities like Munich it's often the only chance of having a safe and clean personal parking spot. |

OP, sorry for what happened to your new toy but don't let it get between you and the car, it will be fixed like new. And congratulations for such taste in cars by the way
Last year when I got delivery of my new and much waited 1M, I took it home directly from the dealer in to my very decent, large and easy underground parking space and guess what? I hit the wall while reverse parking it First time such kind of thing happened after more than 20 years of driving and had to happen with 1M which I dreamed and waited from BMW like 10 years minimum. It happened because of a faulty rear PDC sensor which started warning way too late. So I was really unlucky but thankfully result was almost invisible size paint damage on the rear dumper so I decided to forget about it. Could I? Well, I am the only person who is capable of seeing it without even searching for and I still notice it every day! Other than that tiny moment I never think about stuff like this. Shit happens, it is just a car, just go enjoy it Cheers.

I was gutted but slowly getting over it, after all its just metal and paint.
Next week it should be all fixed up and new again, I have also since found a new larger garage. On the plus side the car drives great had it up to 260kph on the Autobahn. Was scary fast coming from a diesel motor prior. |

sorry to see that. If it's any consolation this has happened to me when I picked up my mini back in 2010. I think it happened under 2 hours

Ouch indeed. Sorry to hear about your mishap. I'm sure it will all be forgotten once you get it repaired.
A previous car I had was hit in a carpark within 24 hours of picking it up. Obviously the culprit drove off and never owned up or left a note. I remember parking it away from other cars and thought it would be safe. It wasn't. When driving my last car home from the dealers, I drove past some road works and heard an almighty thump and when I got home, there was a massive chip on one of my alloys. Anyway chin up mate and enjoy your new car.
