Ambience lights
Hi,
I need some clarification regarding sport line ambience lights, what they do exactly? I switch mine from sport to classic and back to sport but I can't see no difference... |

did you try it at night when its dark? it is the internal light colour, which of course you would not be able to see in the day.

Yes I try at night, I was convinced that this feature is related with the back color of the instruments panel wich can be set to orange , red or white. In my car the panel backcolor is always orange ...

It changes the two little lights above your head, the light which falls on the the door handles, and the light in the footwell.

The environment has to be really dark to notice these ambient light effect. I had been searching it for so long too until someone from this forum explained to me. Otherwise I think I would never find the ambient lights. At the beginning, j thought it has something to do wih the dash lighting too. |

After turning the brightness up to full and changing it back to orange(changed it to Sport setting on the first day and couldn't work out what it did), I found the one above the cup holders and the ones in the door handle inserts but that's it for me. Nothing in the footwells (apart from the white one that comes on when you open a door), nothing in the B pillars and the courtesy/map reading lights are just plain off-white. Still, the ones I do have do add a certain something. Just wondering if any got missed out in the factory. Are we saying there should be a faint orange glow in the footwells evern when the doors are closed?

there are also ambient lights in the gaps between the main dashboard facia and the audio headunit / climate controls (the silver holes) - easiest seen by sticking a piece of white paper in there at night.

Yes, but only if you have the optional light package....otherwise it is just as you described.

Ambiance lighting – switchable BMW Classic Orange/Cold White LEDBut you do not have the extra Extended lighting which has the door handle recess with LED illumination at the front.

We have the extended light pack on our M-sport.
-LEDs behind door handles inside -LEDs in footwells -LEDs in the roof console above the inside mirror -LEDs under door handles on the outside Maybe there's some more lights, but can't remember. The LEDs inside can be changed from classic (orange) to sport (white). You can also change how much they light up, from very little to very noticable. |

Only just noticed today that the OBC display changed from orange to white as I backed out of the garage.
I really need to pay more attention to a new car. |

That has to do with ambient light...if it is dark outside (i.e. night or in the garage or in a tunnel) then the OBC screen (as well as the Effecient Dynamics one, under the rev counter, if you have the extended instrument cluster) is orange...if it is daylight, then it is white. "Clever" car
