Tire Rotation on F20 M-Sport

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey guys,

I have a F20 with staggered tires and I was wondering if you can rotate them side to side? My car came with the continentals and I don't think they are directional since I didn't see any arrow.
If yes please let me know after how many kms one should typically rotate.

Thanks

Rotating from side to side makes no sense. It will temporarily cause increased wear and less road holding, so I would not recommend it. Rotating front to back can have some advantage on cars with very uneven tire wear, mostly FWD cars.

+1 you don't rotate tyres on these cars, if they are wearing unevenly get the car checked, they have been known to wear on the insides though as with other BMW's.

My tyres wear the outside of the fronts, but that is due to my track driving. So if you only do a little bit of track driving, they should wear evenly!

Thanks for the replies guys. I will just leave them alone and just change them when the time comes. How many kms do you reckon one can use the tires for with normal day to day driving?

For some reason the factory fit tyres that come with your car will probably be the set that lasts the longest. Maybe a combination of tyre compound and the fact that the geometry is perfect have something to do with it.

I have had 32k miles from the first set then needed 2 sets before 60k on the clock so expect anywhere between 32 to 50k Kilometers assuming you look after them.

Thats assuming 100% driven on tarmac and no sideways or track abuse.
