Unlock Button: Comfort?

Hi guys, take a look at the pics. You can set unlock button from driver door to all door to comfort.
Ive looked everywhere to find out what comfort does but cant get any info, not even in the manual.
My car does not have comfort access.
Any ideas?

Is'nt that the optional easy entry?

Do you need to actually open the car with the key or does it open automatically if you are in a certain range?

That could be the option used when you have the comfort access, so probs just left in the iDrive. I had a similar thing with my golf, options in the computer for extras I didn't have. Also, has anyone else noticed that if when the car is locked, you pull on either the drivers or boot door handles the car makes a sound and some of the lights on the dash illuminate, such as start etc.. It's a similar noise to that when you actually open the drivers door, like some initialisation. I gathered that was all left for the comfort access also!

If you've selected comfort entry push the unlock button button twice, when you open the door the window will drop about half way down to make it easy to get into the car. When you close the door the window closes. Feature works on both doors. (feature should only be available with 3 door (frameless window) cars)

Excellent. Thanks. It's terrible BMW don't explain this anywhere in the manual and that my dealer didn't understand either.
All this money they are making I hope they kick there dealerships, websites and manuals into 2013 soon

So not all 1 series have the "walk up to the car and it opens" function?

but all have the function where you dont have to plug your key in anywhere to start the car right? cheers

That would be the "grab the handle and the car unlocks" function, which you get if you choose Comfort Access.

Correct. I believe BMW calls this Keyless Go. This applies to F20 and F21, not the old E8x cars.

I had comfort access in my 2010 323i and loved it. Neglected to purchase it on my Mini Cooper S Roadster and really regretted it. Was the first option I added to my 125i. It's such a small thing, but not getting the key out of your pocket to open your car is something you can't live without once you've had it! Worth every cent I reckon.

Hi tawia,

Info on the comfort opening/locking is in the f20 PDF manual downloaded from this forum. I just searched 'Comfort' using Ctrl+F and found it that way.
