The Chinese will counter fit anything. Why you would by them from a Chinese site vs a local authorized dealer is beyond me.

If they are fake they are probably built to a terrible standard. IMO you are putting your life and the life of anyone else in you are at risk using them.

These are the same guys that put poison in baby food, and pet food.

Did the add says that they were fake? Complain about it, call Dunlop, call Obama and get good tires from a reputable shop or vendor.

Sounds like they might be legit but you lucked out many won't take the risk buying tires like that.

How do they perform? especially in the wet, usually if they are fakes you can tell right away in wet driving.

FYI it's common to only have the date code on one side.

Tires SEEM to be original..... That is the problem. They SEEM to be. Anyways if they are legit I would never buy anything from Alibaba unless it was something that I really don't care for, like a pinata!!!!

There are many thing that are made in China and they have really good quality, but they are products manufactures under a brands specifications and sold by that brand, not on Alibaba.

Alibaba is cool for purchasing things that aren't mission critical, but I personally wouldn't purchase tires from them.

Yea I agree.

The OP came here for some support, some people gave it but most just bashed the OP and Alibaba without giving anything supportive or helpful. The tyres are not cheap knock-offs but still people bashing Alibaba (I don't even know who Alibaba is, but this is verging on slander, which of course is illegal).

The OP has stated he looked for replacement tyres which aren't run flats because he does not like the ride of run flats.

The OP didn't luck out IMO. If he had received a product which was then found to be fake, he could have taken this up with his credit card company and not bought from there again.

Someone already mentioned that "fake" items usually are manufactured in the same factories anyway. What defines fake if the product in question was produced in the same machines, same lines by the same people? We know there are quality assurance grey areas but how is that possible if it's still from the same machines etc?

Wow I didn't know they made fake tires... This is a first. I wouldn't trust the tires if they do not have the proper labeling and stamps.

Just order from tirerack next time

From my own experience, the manufacturer may use an inferior material to make the fake tires. With no QC to worry about, the Chinese manufacturer can use anything that will melt. And often does.

One question I had which has gone unanswered is what the tires cost.

Also, do we know if the OP is a resident of the U.S.? He says "North." U.S. credit card laws don't apply elsewhere.

The tires are Dunlop SP Sportmaxx 285/35R21 and 325/30R21

When I purchased the tires, it was written in the webpage that the tires are NOT RUNFLATS. I'm ok with that since I don't like the stiffer ride of runflat tires

I received the tires few days ago, upon inspecting it, I noticed that there is no Load Rating and Speed Rating on the tire sidewall. Example: (108Y, 106W)

This raised my suspicion, I then searched several websites and I cant seem to find Dunlop SP Spotmaxx sizes 285/325 that are NOT RUNFLATS, all I found available in those sizes are DSST tires which are RunOnFlat tires.

Is there a way for me to check if the tires are original DUNLOPS or are fakes?

Pls kindly see the attached photos of the sidewall of the tires.

I will appreciate any help.
I'm concerned with the safety of the tires.

Thanks
Just stopped right there.

They probably made a cast mold of the real tires and filled it with black Elmer's glue. Let it cure for 24 hours and then shipped it to you.

OP, please get rid of those tires once for all. Eventually they will explode or disintegrate!!!! Do you rely on them after 1% uncertainty? And to AAAAAALLLLLLL the community DO NOT buy tires except from a reputable tire center or similar (Alibaba is not similar). It's not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alibaba is sort of a mashup of eBay and Amazon. But it's bigger than both combined in terms of sales and market cap. The problem is that it's just a marketplace so people and companies can really sell just about anything on there and laws against counterfeiting are obviously looser in China than in the US or EU.

Alibaba isn't selling counterfeit products, they just provide a marketplace where people are selling potentially counterfeit stuff. But you can find plenty of counterfeit stuff on eBay as well. I don't think Tial BOVs are really $30...
