possible to tune 118i to 120i?

Greetings.

I've just bought a unicorn, the 2015 118i with the 1600cc N13 engine. As far as I can tell, it's identical to the 120i except that it's detuned. Would anyone know what/how it was detuned and how I might re-tune it?

It is a matter of chip tuning. All N13 engines are good for around 220 hp.

the differences between those two variants of N13 are very minimal.
mechanically the 170-177ps one has heat exchanger for oil and a slightly different exhaust system.
other than those, it is the engine mapping. you can easily go for 220hp at stage 1 for both cars.
i heard some people swapping their intercooler with a bigger one after remapping, but i am not sure which size you need to eliminate lag.

Thanks, you two. I've been reading up on the chip thing, I guess I'll just go for a simple plug and play chip for a little bit more ponies.

Venturatuning.pt developed a powerbox for that engine up 200Hp and 300NM
I bough them for my 2018 F30 330e, now 314Hp.
The only reason that I bought it was from reading a lot from others users in bimmerpost .
the main difference from others like Racechip and other generic producers is they actually do tuning in dynobank AND on road, they develop and built themselves the units, fiberglass, original plugs from OM brands.
Not cheap, I’ve payed 750€ but never had problems.
