rust in A/C outlet

Hello,

just transfer the picture showed in a Chinese F20 forum that the rust is found in the A/C outlet bracket, especially near the welding seal. you can also have a look at your own F20...
you may have more courage to find more rust in your car...

I'm really glad that I'm only going to own my F20 for 5 years, all within the comprehensive Motorplan (full warranty) period here in South Africa.

A great car to drive, but these quality issues don't look too promising...

indeed. Buying a used F20 10 years down the road won't be a great buy. Rust-bomb deluxe.

Makes me glad that I went into a 4 year PCP, once these problems get well known and people avoid used purchases my guaranteed value will be very handy!

The BMW bodies shells are dipped and treated during the production process

It seems that all these rusty bits come from the parts suppliers to BMW.

I doubt these parts would arrived rusty at BMW and were still installed.

It seems that the parts supplier has saved a few bucks here.

The metal parts would be cleaned before installation, so it appears that they have gone rusty once the car has left the production and is now exposed to the elements. This points to the supplier not coating them during their manufacture.

We should all check these problem spots and report them to our dealers so that BMW gets the feedback and can rectify this during service.

I will be checking mine thoughout when it arrives
