The German automotive tv show GRIP toured BMW's warehouse last year... it looks awesome!! Soon all of these cars will be moved into BMW Classic's new home at the former Knorr Bremsen factory which was owned by BMW at first. BMW sold it off in the 50's. Now they bought it back and are almost done with the renovations to the factory.

That video was great. Wish my German was half decent, but after 30 years after learning it a school it has pretty much all gone! Would love to spend time in the garage, let alone take any of them out. Thank you for posting, was very enjoyable.

You did see that in the video... you can turn on CC's and then select English for translation of what they are saying.

Who owns all of these cars? Does BMW? Or do the owner just loan them out for the sake of an exhibition?

BMW AG owns all those cars in the museum.

I remember at the Elvis 507 Lost & Found event... the cars parked outside the museum were owned by "friends" of BMW. Some were even current and ex employees. BMW only owns a few 507's.

Thanks Dack. So even the Z8 with the UK plates belongs to BMW? Do they just go up to someone who has a Z8 in the UK, and buy it from them with the intention of having it in their museum? I wonder how that works...

That Z8 belongs to a UK citizen named James: James Bond - as does the Z3.

Actually those cars were used in the Bond films and loaned out to the studio. BMW has a bunch of these Bond specials, like the e38 7er that drives itself and the M3's from the last Mission Impossible film.
