Hi All,
I ordered my 120d M-Sport in May for delivery in Sept.
Just been phoned by my dealer today, he told me there is a 6-8 week delay on M-sports with the Hexagon with Matt Estoril Blue trim finisher! BMW have offered me the Brushed aluminium with high gloss black for no charge.
Dealer will get back to me on Wednesday to see if there is any delay on this.

Interesting as I have a delay on my M135i, expected end of Sept moved on the factory System to December. I ordered the brushed ally rather then the hexagon trim though...

Hmmm, that would explain why mine is delayed from mid-August to the beginning of September. My dealer didn't communicated it to me. They gave me the mid-August time frame when I submitted my order. Last week when my dad was in for a minor repair, they checked the date again, stating "beginning of September".

I wouldn't mind changing to brushed aluminium, but the gloss black is definitely a 'no go' since my exterior color is Estoril Blau.

Guys,
I have also been told there is now a delay on the 125i and all M Sport packs as they are getting updates.

I got my dealer to reduce the price for the M performance interior trim kit (fitted here) as compensation. If I don't like the trim when it arrives they will replace it.

BTW I went for the Brushed ally and black on my EstB 125i M Sport as mine comes with the black leather interior.

Saw a EstB 118i M Sport at the dealers with the black interior and the Brushed ally / black trim. It looks fantastic.

After seeing it, the checker and Est B trim looks a bit cheap

Do you have any information on what kind of updates those would be?

I was thinking and I'd even be quite happy with the red finisher from the sport too.

Based on these delays. Is it better to wait still for my 125i or just go get a 135i coupe now from the dealer as they have a few in camp stock? I really don't want to wait 3 more months for my car.

That's up to you really. You need to be willing to wait if you ever want to own a car's newest model. The shortest waiting time possible for a F20 in Europe is about 2 months, I guess. South Africa is probably a different story.

The delays haven't really been confirmed yet. Judging the comments here, it's probably a fact. But what actually causes the delays is not yet certain.

Stop complaining guys. Received my 125i m sport black with black leather and brushed trim + gloss black (looks very classy by the way) on 13th. On 21st a stupid guy crashed into my rear and managed to deform my rear left suspension. So my waiting time is going to be very long: car repatriation (was abroad), expertise, time to repair or new order waiting time in case of total loss decision... Still thinking you are not lucky with 2 weeks delay?....

Same here in Hong Kong,

Just ordered the M135i over the weekend and sales came back today with a 2 months delay in the factory.
When i sign the papers they said the production would be in Aug. So never believe a word from any salesman.

Anybody knows what causes the delay?

Yeah i ordered my M135i from the BMW dealer in Hong Kong last week, and was just told of a two month delay due to "car tuning". The sales person tried to dress it up as good news, saying that the car will be "perfectly tuned" when it arrives. What a joke.

I then said I would like to have a 2013 production, rather than 2012 production, as we are so close to 2012 year end. The salesperson then started to come up with all sorts of excuses, saying that the quota is limited, that the delay may be shortened etc etc. Obviously he said all of this without even checking.

Then I told him that the Porsche salesperson told me that he is advising his clients for 2013 production on the new Boxster, so I don't see what it should be a problem with my M135i. And only then he agreed to go and check.

Not sure if he is lazy, untrustworthy, or both.

Not sure I understand what you mean. The M135i will start with the Model Year 2013, even though it's produced in the end of 2012.

From my recent conversation with the dealer following my car accident mentioned in previous post, I would say BMW dealers service is terrible. You need to blackmail them if you want to obtain something that is normal like: if you do not do this for me, my positive opinion about you will switch to negative and I will be obliged to spend my money somewhere else ...

Maybe this is something peculiar to Hong Kong. For a car that is produced in 2012, if you want to sell it sometime down the line, you call that a 2012 car. And having a 2013 car cosmetically looks better than a 2012 car (even though the difference is only by a matter of months) when it comes to the second hand car market, and can command a slightly higher price on resale.
