My 125i was just unloaded of the ship...

Hi all,

Newbie here... Firstly, many thanks to all the regular contributors on here. I have really enjoyed reading the various posts and it has made researching my purchase very helpful.

In early January I ordered a 125i 5 door hatch. Went with Estoril Blue, M Sport pack, Auto, Black Dakota Leather, Business Nav, Sunroof, Heated seats, Comfort Access... and wishing I'd done the HK sound system but I forgot to add it on. Also wondering if I should have gone with the funky orange colour I've seen a few pics on here.

The boat has taken 5 weeks to get from Germany to Australia... and now I guess we'll see how long it sits on the dock before making it 2km up the road to the dealer.

I've previously owned a 2010 323i which I really enjoyed and I am now trading in my Mini Cooper S Roadster... it is a fun car around town, but on longer drives it is just too unrefined and noisy to be enjoyable. Looking forward to a smoother ride.

Getting pretty excited about this little beast. Will post some pics when it arrives.

Congrats! My M135i was on the same ship, and should have been unloaded there, too.

Let me know when your dealer says it arrives! Where did you buy yours?

In Canberra. Realistically, I'm not expecting delivery of mine until after Easter.

Yes indeed! Never thought I'd care so much about the whereabouts of a big red cargo ship...

I think I'm a little more obsessed than you... http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...0&postcount=19

I'll let you know once I take delivery - might give you an idea how long it takes from the dock to the dealer. The Tomar arrived in Melbourne on Friday 15th March at around midday. I'm hoping for delivery later this week.

Hi, I just ordered my M135 for April build. The dealer told me it will arrive sometime in June. When did you guys order your cars?

I ordered in November and my build was the 2nd week of January. It was loaded onto the ship on 8th Feb and just arrived last Friday. Enjoy the wait, I did

I would be expecting end of April as a best case scenario if I were you. It could well be longer. You may get lucky though! Mine was ordered in December, built early January and just arrived at port yesterday. It could sit on the dock for a while though, and then the dealer often wants it for at least 3 days to register it, get it prepared for delivery etc.

Yeah, it will be some painful 3+ months of waiting. I regret selling my 135i coupe early now.

The dealer did promise me they will lend me their demo M135i for me to drive on the weekend sometime. That will ease the craving for a bit

Smile My New 125i

Hi all,

I ordered a 125I 5 door hatch in Mid January. Went with the sports line in Midnight blue, comfort access, leather seats, heated seats, electric seat adjustment.

My car is due in Fremantle on the 31st March.
Can not waiting to drive it.
I have had 2 mini's in the past and it is going to be fun to drive a slightly larger and stronger car.

I ordered early December, but wanted a 2013 build. I think the minimum wait is around 8 weeks

Good purchase mate Happy to see a few aussie 125's popping up!

I traded in my R56 Cooper S for mine - you're going to be happy with the added refinement.

I doubt I'll have to wait until the end of April. My last 1 Series arrived on a ship on 5th July, and I took delivery on the 16th July - just 11 days later. The dealer took 2 days to prepare it once they received it.

Sorry, I meant to reply to Kenji and MEANT to say end of June not April... Yes... you'd be expecting yours by end of next week if you get lucky!

Very interesting. Our cars would be very similar... except mine only had 2 seats and a drop top of course. How have you found the ride of the 125i with the M Sport suspension when compared to the Mini Cooper? What about the handling?

All very exciting! I ordered my M135i on Saturday - dealer hasn't given me a build date yet, so a long wait ahead for me. Remember to post pics

The M Sport Suspension is fantastic and a huge step ahead of the MINI. Much more refined in regards to absorbing bumps, potholes etc.

Whilst the 125i grips hard and has very little body roll, it doesn't give you the amount of feedback or directness the MINI provides. I find turn-in to be a little loose, and non-linear. The front end never really feels sure-footed and the slightest of bumps or undulations mid corner can often put it off course before it settles again and grips for dear life. It's worth noting my steering rack is due to be replaced soon because of a knock and increased travel on the front-right wheel. These issues could be because of that... so I'll reserve judgement till then.

Nonetheless, I'm happy to say good riddance to the MINI. Went for a drive to Bowral on the weekend and that's where the refinement really stood out.

BTW, are you getting in to an Auto 125i? The difference between the Auto boxes is probably the biggest highlight The ZF8 is outstanding.
