Has anyone changed from the original tyre brand to another on their F20.

Im still sporting my BS potenza's that came on the car. After 25k miles Ive still got 4mm on the back and 5mm on the front and I dont exactly drive miss daisy. But I am getting a bit of tram lining now thought.

At the moment I'm considering replacing with the same as i'm pretty impressed with them but wondering if there is something better out there.

I have changed to Michelin non-run-flats for both summer and winter use. Very pleased with them.

Thanks, I am up for some new skins shortly, and I am also considering going to Michelin. There are some reports saying that the Michelin run flats are also very good and may even have some benefits over the non RF.
As you are a keen motor sports driver, I am very interested to know what made you decide on the non RF
Also, what items do you keep in your car for tyre repair

I am running Michelin PS3 - quite pleased with them. Especially impressed with the wet grip.

I think runflats in general are too heavy, and have too stiff tyre walls. That affects grip, comfort and noise. These disadvantages are less significant if the road is very smooth.

I keep a worm repair kit, a torque wrench, a 12V compressor and a jack in my car.

I've just read a non-English car magazine article (about testing a M4 on the racetrack) where they do emphasize going with BMW recommended tyres for the car is the best choice and especially with the BMW (star-marked) OEMs which are different from the conventional ones of the same brand, model and size.

So the best performance choice for F20/21 must be the non-run-on-flat Michelins (whatever exact spec.) standard on the M135i. It just might be questionable whether the less performance version of the car really needs them: longevity and safety (non-runflat) are the compromise.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport are serving me well on the M135 though I see that the Pilot Sport 2 tyres have better wet weather grip.

On the 116D I ended up with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 non-RF which were really good compared to the Pirelli P Zero RF tyres the car started out with.

Where do you see that?

My impression is that PSS is equal or better than PS3, which is better than PS2 in wet conditions, unless it is very cold, in which case PSS is not so good.

Dry+Wet: PSS > CSC5 > TOYO PROXIMUS

Strange. Both Michelins websites and other tests indicate that PS2 is the slowest rain tyre of the 3. I have not seen any test results for dry performance, but PS2 feels more sporty than PS3. PSS is definitely the fastest tyre of the 3 in dry conditions.

Having owned RWD cars with PSS, ps2 and ps3, my order of preference is

PSS
Ps2
PS3

Here in Australia it looks like only the PSS are available in 245 35 R 18

PSS PS3 are available in 225 40 R 18
