don't think it is better than current M3 in any way.
and about e92 m3, it is an naturally aspirated 8 cyl. a turbo 6 cyl engine can never deliver the joy and feeling of the S65 engine.

what this guy is trying to point out is that you will have better fuel economy and instant feeling of high torque with m135i which are nonsense to a naturally aspirated enthusiasts.
and fuel economy would be the last thing to worry if I had an M3

I think the F20 M135i is more comfortable than the F30 M3, and it has a more practical layout. In winter conditions, it is probably faster with the more compliant setup, particularly the X-drive version. It is also easier to park, it takes up less space in the garage, and it does not provoke other drivers as much as the M3.

Basically the M135i is more of a compromise than the M3, and that is what most people want.

E9x M3 was one of its kind and for me it's a waaaay better, more focused car than M135i, no discussion about it.
Target group is different: see what percentage of M3 owners do track their cars vs M135i owners and you have the answer.

Nevertheless, price/performace/fun factor is much better in M135i, especially in second-hand cars. If you can live with its look...

For track driving, the M3 is definitely more capable. I was just commenting on the theory that the M3 was better at everything, which it isn't.

However, most people who take their cars to the track, are not actually competing, it is only about having fun. With that in mind, an even older M3, like the E46, could be even more fun on the track than the newer and faster M cars.

yes, I agree with you on comfort and practicality. if no emotions are involved, M135i is a more sensible choice.
however, from a "car enthusiast's" view the two should not be compared. they serve totally different purposes for different consumer group, and any "car guy" would take the M3 without second thought.
