Sport seats question/problem ?

Hey guys,

I took delivery of my 116d sports line on friday and I've done around 750km with it so far. The car is stunning and drives like a beauty

My only problem is the fabric sport seats. I did make a test drive before ordering, but now that i've done longer trips, I 'm getting back problems.

I'm a normal sized guy but I have the feeling that the seat is too small for me, even with the side bolsters set at it's widest. I feel that the seats but towards my sides, a bit too much. This makes me moving my but all the time in the car, but can't really find a good position, as it pushes too much. The real pain is just below my shoulders, there's something hard metal in the seats there, which I don't really feel when driving, but I just don't feel relaxed.

Does anyone have the same experiences, do the side bolsters settle over time, or what should I do? Anyone have any tips?

Kind regards

this has been reported by other people- when i brought it up with my dealer in conversation, he said he'd had no complaints. make sure you talk to your dealer.

the m seats are included in the m-sport pack price, and are not an option for any other model.

That's correct, but I do believe dafila is right as well. Only difference is probably the hexagon fabric / alcantara surface. Technically the seats should be identical!

Yeah, technically the seats are the same. Just a different cloth on them.

The M Sport seats are a bit wide for me (189cm, 79kg) with the side bolsters at the widest setting. I have to run them a bit narrower, and then they are among the best seats I have ever tried.

I'm on my 3rd 1 Series all of which have had sports seats with adjustable side bolsters and which I have found to be extremely comfortable; no complaints.

And for the saved money you can almost get the Navi Pro (which is so much more than only navigation)

yep- there is a rocker switch on the right side (for right hand drive) - one inflates the sides, the other de-pressurizes them

So I popped into my local dealer this morning as they finally have a m sport and I wanted to try out the seats. I'm a big guy (6'2" and 130kg) and was worried I wouldn't fit in the seat after some of the comments on here.

Turns out I don't have anything to worry about. The seat seemed quite comfortable although I realise that you need to spend some time in it to really know. I've no idea what the side bolstering was set to either but it seemed to be OK. Definitely less head room than my current car however (Golf VI) but I anticipated that due to the different design.

The seats are not as thick (particularly in the seat) as the golf however but I guess this is because they need to be with less headroom.

I'm no midget either, and now that I've had my F20 delivered, I can confirm the standard seats are way more comfortable than those in a Golf GT or a Focus for example.
