Post BMW 1 Series GT Front Design Patent Follows Concept Closely and Shows US Spec Design

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
The first patent images of areas of the upcoming BMW 1er Gran Turismo nee Active Tourer have been found.
And as you can see what you see as a concept is very much the reality.

As you can see there will be LED lights and even side cameras available as optional equipment.

Like the equivalent B-Klasse , BMW expects the GT to be also a second car or a weekend hauler for the customer that may have an X5 etc so the emphasis is on downsizing a luxury car into a more populated and growing segment.

And yes that is US style side reflectors on the wheel arch as BMW do have plans to eventually sell this car to US customers.

Compare to the Concept Active Tourer:

Pretty sure they stated yes...the side market is an indication of North American market because Euro market doesn't require that.

I think the 1er GT will probably look the best of all the GT's (3er and 5er) by looking most like a traditional hatch (of course differentiating itself from the F20/F21). The 3 and 5-Series GT doesn't even come to mind when I think about what a 1-Series GT might look like.

Probably not. We rarely get anything good. We only get the GT500...

Not to be rude or anything but what is the purpose of this car?

It looks very similar to the i3 except FWD and non-electric. It seems to me with the purpose that the i3 is trying to fulfill this car shouldn't really exist.

Unless of course, there is a huge difference in price between this and the i3

Interested - particularly if it's a bit higher like the Mrecedes B or Golf plus. I find getting in & out of my F20 a real pain since I hurt my back.

I can see the point in this car in Europe and other world markets...but I do not see any point at all in this car for the US market. There is a reason why the B Klasse is not sold here...

The German press has reported the price of the i3 to be near the price of a 5er. ~40K euros.

i've seen it at the Welt in december and in person it looked so much better.

It's a lot better than the 3er and 5er GT.

To save costs? We can all hate all the new models BMW is introducing but they don't have a parent company to fall back on (like Audi) to save costs through platform sharing, BMW has to do this all in house. If BMW didn't have these new niche models, it would be extremely difficult for them to compete.

2018 Audi RS5  [0.00]
1000% improvement over the butt ugly 1 series headlights
It's kind of a shame to call it a GT in light of the the other 2 ugly ducklings with that name

Front looks great
Back looks even better
Profile looks good too

Right, but I perceive this as a sporty hatchback, not as a small SAV like the x1. Seems like an entirely different niche right? so it shouldn't replace the x1 but rather be a hatchback for those of us in the states who want a bmw hot hatch!

and glad to see you're still around scott...you were feeding me 1 series info back in '07 before 1addicts was swallowed up by bimmerpost.
