Air-con not strong enough

My F20 is already a year old. Having been thru one summer here in southeast asia, I think BMW did not look into this engineering at all. The car is absolutely not cold enough at all, comparing to my w210 and my e36. What is wrong with bmw? I had already took it back to the dealer previously and had it checked...answer was nothing wrong! The service center told me that this is already cold if I compared it to the mini cooper. My friends 428i is freezing cold...I really wonder why

Our 116i has significantly more cooling ability than our previous E36.

Where are the vents pointing? Do you have tinted windows? What temp is coming out of the middle vent when the rest are closed and set to re-circulate, I think this is how they test it and it has to be 5 degrees but someone could confirm.

If you have it on Auto, where have you set the sensitivity?

I can share bedema's feelings, when the temp cranks 35C here in sunny South Africa, I found the aircon struggles to cool the interior down when compared to my previous car. It eventually cools down enough for me to turn it down so its no train smash really.

We've recently had a couple of weeks of continuous 35+C temps, and I've found the a/c more than adequate for the task. I spec my cars with this in mind, hence AW, no sunroof, darkest legal tint.....and shade ...if I can find it! Like most cars, you have to use the "Max" setting for the first 5 minutes

I have UV tint on my car, not just the fancy tint and most of the time i have my car parked out doors with no shades. It can get really hot here in Hong Kong, sometime when i get on the car, it says 40+. Even after 10-15 mins on full blast, still not as cold as my good old e36, forget about comparing to my w210 which is like a freezer.
I did measured the temp off from the vent when I had the car indoor and it surely did read 5 degrees, but not outdoor.

Likewise - no 'roof, AW but no tint either. There are days where I park in full sun all morning, then get in and out of the car a few times over an hour or two. I've regularly seen mid-high 30's and the odd 40-plus and we do get some fairly humid days. This car certainly cools slightly better than my E90 and E91 in "Max" although because of the way "Auto" is set up, it takes a bit longer unless I push the "Max" button.

Not trying to jack the thread, but....

Everytime I turn on the AC the air freakin' stink. It is so bad we literally have to roll the window down Anyone experience the same? I had BMW replace the filter and flush the system; I had to pay for it, and it doesn't work. Anyone experience similar?

That's usually due to bacteria in the airways and filter, and can be a big problem in humid climates. The anti-bacterial treatment usually works for a while, but it depends on the climate, I guess
