Seems like zee German police are on a…tuningwitch-hunt, as Berlin cops are seizing cars on the "suspicion of illegally installed modifications" on site.

We repeat, they are snatching and towing away vehicles merely on the suspicion that their owners have tuned them in an unlawful way – and they're pretty damn proud of it. Basically, they're profiling cars!

In a statement in late May, the Berlin Police shared pictures of several cars, including a Lamborghini, a BMW, and an Alfa Romeo*being lifted on a trailer after officers pulled them over for producing "extremely loud engine noises". According to a police statement, "All vehicles were suspected to have technical defects" and would be further inspected by technicians.

In true honesty I'd rather the cops do something about those illegal Harley Davidsons with the damn loud exhaust that you can hear from blocks away.

Wifey and I were out walking tonight when some attention whore in a pickup with straight pipes roared by and gunned the engine as he headed down the hill near us. We had to stop our conversation for several minutes until the idiot got far enough away where we could hear each other again. We could still hear him climbing the hill on the other side of the valley miles away.

I don't know if things have changed over there, but when I lived in Germany in the mid 80's, they were serious about quiet times and reducing pollution. The story above doesn't surprise me in the least.

That said, if the police are just hauling cars away on looks alone (profiling), then that isn't right either.

Not just Germany but many countries in Europe have strict noise, pollution and illegal modification laws. Was very common to be ticketed and have your car set to be illegal to drive on public roads. Seizing them is a new thing and next time I talk to family there I will ask about that true or false.

Love being here because of the economic climate, the opportunities to advance your life, endless opportunities of entertainment, variety of food available and of of course bacon and BBQ but I love the mustard/vinegar of the SC lowlands.

Shit, I go to Carolina beach (about 2 hour drive), and it's nowhere near as packed as Myrtle or Virginia beach. It's actually really tame comparably, but not really much to do around there like the others.
