125i M-sport ordered

And now the 3 month wait starts!

3 door in Estoril Blue with 18" wheels

Sports auto gearbox with paddle shift

Alcantara/cloth interior (I swayed between this and black leather so many times but eventually decided I've had and will in the future have leather on my cars so lets do something different)

Interior comfort pack which in South African spec is
-Auto dimming mirror
-climate control
-extended lights package

Silly stuff, but coming from a GTI I'm used to those features.

Xenons
Sunroof
H/K Sound
Business navigation
PDC front and rear
Full bluetooth connectivity

The price of all those toys is far more than you would think reading through the relatively short list, as I'm sure all you F20 owners know. But after agonizing over my spec for a while, considering shaving a bit off here and there, I just decided lets go for it and get what I want without being stupid, I wont get much back for a lot of it on resale, but then cars aren't an investment anyway. Then there was the huge question over whether or not to just go for a 135i instead. Not much more money relatively speaking, but factor in insurance and fuel and the fact that I enjoy a perky car but seldom have the opportunity to properly stretch its legs, I think the 125i was a good call.

Traumatic stuff all this decision making!! The next 3 months will be the longest of my life!

BTW doing my research in advance, the snap in adaptor for an iphone seems to be crazy expensive?

Good choice of options, maybe M Sport Brakes would have been nice too
Congrats!

Hey Diesel20,

I know how you feel man, i just recived my baby like 2 wees ago. During the waiting time I though it would never happend, but once it did, it was a pure joy

Runing it in is also a b*tch though

... cant wait to make her scream

You shouldn't be worried, you made a good choice on selectin well speced 125i over empty 135i - had the same dilemma, but once i took it for a ride i realised its spot on.

The reality is that you will spend more time daily driving using those extra accessories then driving it like a mad man in a gas gosling 6 cylinder...

but TBH I will be always joules about the sound 135i makes

PS
now u gotta change ur nickname to Petrol20

Thanks bro!

Lol my nick is actually from the clothing line, never owned a diesel, I got petrol in my veins. Suppose the nick is better suited to other platforms, car forums not so much

There is nothing wrong with the standard anchors on the car, I had the fortunate opportunity to get a test drive in a bog standard 125i where the sales guy just said go for it as much as you want and I happened to know the roads which had some nice twisties. Unfortunately it was a regular auto, not one with paddles which isn't ideal for blasting it.

Had a far more sedate test drive in an M sport 125i without the M brakes. Piece together having the ability to change gears on the wheel, the nice meaty feel the M sport pack gives to the car and the power of the 125i and I rate my car is gonna be fantastic!

So really, brakes worth the money? The look of the calipers I'm not concerned about.

Garage List
I do want the M-brakes. I don't really care about the extra stopping power, but I love the looks of them! If all I had to pay was the price of the brakes, then I would go for it. Sadly I will also have to upgrade my winter wheels as I have specced 16" rims. These alone will cost me around £1900, so I don't even want to know how much the dealer (now I understand why you guys call it "stealer") wants for 17".

Well I got my order number which lets me use the 'track my vehicle' feature on the website.

Build date: 02/15
Vehicle distribution centre 04/15

Will get to see how long it takes from Vehicle distribution centre to dealership as my mom has a 528i on order that was supposed to arrive at the distribution centre yesterday (but either hasn't or the system hasn't been updated), so based on that my car should follow a similar time frame.

The joy of owning a bmw has already started, offering a track my vehicle service when its competitors must surely use a similar stock control infrastructure but don't offer the service.

I'll jump on his thread too if you don't mind, just ordered a 125i about an hour ago. Now for the long wait!

It is a long wait I ordered mine on the 3rd Jan and that seems like ages ago. It is good having some thing to look forward too.

The dealer seemed pretty sure it would be ready for the beginning of march, sounds a bit quick going by what I've scoured online. Be nice if it was though, pretty keen on giving it a good blast.

I ordered on the 3rd Jan and made a change on the 11th Jan which went through for a delivery date of the 1st March. The car will be delivered to the dealer on the 24th Feb for prepping.

Wowzer, pretty quick. You've just given me some optimism that it will actually be ready when he said it would! The guy said 12 weeks initially, then early march. What options did you plump for?

I opted for the F21 diesel and my options, Sport automatic transmission, pro nav, visibility pack, driver comfort pack and M sport breaks. The late change was the colour from Alpine white to Estoril blue. I believe she was born this week, what options have you gone for?

Didn't go for that many, M Sport comes with decent kit already like the climate control etc so took the business satnav, manual box, xenon lights and electric memory seats - these should be handy when it comes to school runs and the missus tampers with my perfect position. I tested a 116d M Sport today and that was lovely, I didn't feel any need for variable steering or suspension and the manual box was really nice to use, lovely short throws. The engine had a surprising amount of punch too, can't wait to see what the 125i has to offer!

The only worry I have is wether I'll regret not getting pro nav, all I could gather between the two is screen size, 3d maps and twitter but we'll see.

Oh yeah, mineral grey colour.

When I picked up my 118d coupe I was very impressed but I wish I had gone for the 120d it has always been a regret, that is why I have gone for more power this time. I had a test drive of the 125d and was smitten, I also wanted more toys this time. This is also my first automatic I just loved it on the test drive.

I was a bit worried about trying an auto, if I loved it I'd be about one and a half grand worse off. Never had an auto either but I was keen to try the flappy paddles. Maybe next time round eh. The sales guy was really keen on selling the 118, reckoned I wouldn't need the 125 - I was surprised he didn't want to sell the dearer car. Maybe there's a better margin on them or something, soon put him right though. Hope you enjoy yours when you get it mate, seems like it'll be a real gem of a car.

JHB. Where are you? Figured to get the 3 door because this will more than likely be the last car I buy before I start needing to take practicality into concern.

See my production schedule date has just been moved forward to 25th March. That means in 10 days my car will actually EXIST,l though unfortunately on the other side of the world

What spec do you have?

Im in CPT hey unfortunately for me I wanted my car in 3 days so I just took one that was already made

I have bmw 125i 5 door: Xenons, sunroof, sapphire metallic black, m sports pack, 18inch allow rims, headlamp washer, pdc rear.

Really wish I could have added - HK sound system, full Bluetooth ( as i only have the hands free ) and the m sports breaks.
