Not entirely agreeing with you, I agree wholeheartedly the focus has to be on providing a cut above the competition driver experience on its core products to bring back the rep and pep to its range.

Looks cool, but I see it has a b-pillar, so I doubt its an s-coupe rival... I think this is a 6 but with a different name. The 9 will probably be the benz's competitor.

i really hope its not the 6er if they plan to take on the 911 with the next generation 6 series. this is too big to take on the 911. i bet this is the 8er.

I like that you made this observation. BMW does own RR, potential to be a toned down version? Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember reading they used the Rolls motor for the new 760? Perhaps a "more affordable" Rolls Royce branded as a BMW. Competition within the same company, profits end up in the same pocket.

There has never been a bigger market for super cars or super GTs, so BOTH are feasible and all sell. None of it is stupid, and people aren't wrong for pointing out the lack high end performance.. the recent racing post saw the M6 getting thrashed by the R8 etc. I don't see this thing doing any better in race spec.

I wonder what this entails for the 6er coupe/vert, neither of which is nearly as popular as the Gran Coupe. I think they should just kill the other versions and make the 6er a Gran Coupe only. Have the 8-series be their big 2-door luxo barge.

I like it and welcome the return of the 8.... loved the 850i back in the 90's.... I love that they always have the black grills on the test cars then charge to put them on the production models! The 6 GC is still one of the best looking cars in the line up.

I saw this car in person last week, it didn't sound like an M car, or at least it doesn't sound like the M5. According to SCOTT its registered to Garching, so that's perhaps the basis for the M8 speculation... but in my humble, non expert opinion, if it's an M product, it's perhaps an M850i.
