When I started out in autocross many years ago in southern california, I was talking to a guy with a miata and it was a rental car. He said he just rented one every autocross weekend and didn't have to worry about wear and tear.

I agree with you, fix up your boxster. Great COG, handling, plenty of power for A/X. The guy in our P club that almost always wins A/X drives an old Porsche (?914), he's just an excellent driver.
