Trying to help you here, bud :b

Bigger wheel snow tires are an added expense. You'd also have to store a set of summers.

It's a BA car, no doubt...but will you really need the extra power when commuting in the winter, with others on the road?

If you want to get rid of your X3, but also want an X5, get a diesel and call it a day.

No problems in the snow. Bulletproof motors and drivetrain. Retains value.

If you want something that works in the snow buy a Range Rover, preferably a super charged V8

Not stupid, FRUSTRATING. All that power and handling, in the snow - what a waste. It would be like dating a supermodel with the agreement that you would only ever hold hands.

Playing devils advocate here.

It snows maybe 8 days year in NJ? Its more of a daily commuter with the comfort knowing i have AWD

NJ isn't that bad snow wise. You'd just have to get a nice set of winter tires.

This is a silly argument (albeit trying to help the OP). . . If you're going to have a "winter car" you should 100% most definitely have a set of winter tires/wheels or else it defeats the purpose. "All season" tires are 3 1/2 season tires at best. Even the manufacturers will admit in their media that the tires are not suitable in climates where temperatures are consistently below freezing and there is moderate snow and/or ice.

To the other guy that said the x5m sucks in the snow. . . WTF are you talking about? The summer performance tires that come on it probably suck in the snow, just like the PSS on the m3s - but with actual snow tires and AWD, the X5M is a friggin snow machine. My M3 with Blizzak LM-32s is a beast in the snow - The only thing that stops me from going out is ground clearance when there are ruts/ice built up which obviously isn't as much of a factor in the X.

Although he still has a dick in his mouth, he might be on to something.

The Macan gts or turbo will be good enough to replace both the m3 and x3 for all session usage.

I doubt the x5m will scratch the itch if 'numb' is the problem. You'd be better off with a previous gen x1 3.5 w/ m-sport package or better yet a sweet e91 x-drive with a stick. Put a real suspension on it and some snow tires and have an absolute blast of a winter toy. An s4/rs4 with a set of snows would be a better bet than the x5 in terms of not 'numb' and snow fun.

Now if going fast in a straight line is your poison, X5m all the way.

GTS is actually not too quick in terms of acceleration. Pretty much on par with the Macan S

The Turbo is better as it's closer to the M3.

Would say Cayenne but that's a bit bigger and it's a bit off-putting that the Cayenne Turbo has a horrible tiptronic transmission and not PDK!

Tiptronic sports car

The most successful person I know owns not a one, not a two, but a three (read 'em and weep: three, tres, 3) family investment house. Dude buys a new Bugatti every day. Doesn't even sell the old ones! It's not worth his time.
