Cliffs: If you've got the money to buy a Paceman JCW, buy a 135i.

Just looked, and in the States, the Paceman JCW starts at $36,200! No wonder I don't see these on the road.

Could also be that it looks butt ugly
But then again
The sight of those 1 series headlights make me eject the last meal I had
So I guess it's a tough choice between the 2

MINI's are overpriced period. But it comes down to what an individual preferences. As a DD, I probably wouldn't buy a MINI because the ride is rock hard, but at the same time, it's what I love about it. You can't argue about the driving feel because it's what most wish BMW still had - well weighted steering, direct/accurate and communicative and people will buy it.

Many might not see the value of a MINI but the same thing could be said about BMW, Audi or Mercedes. BMW has the 320 for $34K. To some, it's 34k for 180HP/184lb/ft which is absurd while others see it as a very basic BMW which is reminiscent of the old BMW with less of the computer nonsense. All about choices.

The mini is all wheel drive... Which could be a deal breaker for some buyers.

I think the only way AutoCar could of pee'd on Mini anymore than they did in that video would of been if they did a drag race or track battle to actually prove how much quicker the 1er is. It's a good thing BMW own Mini or there would of been some miffed men at Mini

1 series any day. But gosh those headlights! BMW did a lot of good things with the new 1 except the front and the rear. Definitely a fun car to drive; 0-60 in 4.6 seconds is fast!

It seems Mini is just running out of ideas. They have had the exact same lame and unergonomic interior for so many years now. All they do is "Okay, how else can we shape this body?"

I used to own a jcw Mini Cooper. I really loved it. It's a fun car, even on the track. Not the fastest but its so unique. Before I went for my third M3, I was thinking of getting a jcw coupe, I just loved that it looked sporty and small. But I couldn't justify the price.

But BMW has been improving mini since it took it over in my opinion.

Personally, I think BMW nailed the driving aspects of the MINI. All BMW would have to do is upgrade the interior and its materials (use a lot less hard plastic and replace it with vinyl.)

As for the ride/driving feel, I hope BMW doesn't change it. Leave the rock hard suspension and keep the steering the same. I figure if BMW decides to soften up the suspension and make it a lot more compliant, I might as well just get a 1-Series.

I like the Paceman, but it's just overly expensive. I loved my E92 335i when I had it, but the MINI is just so much more fun as a daily and a track car.

Considering that I drive a 135i with ppk, it should be obvious that I think it is better than any Mini, JCW or whatever.

Presently I own a 2011 M3 and 2011 JCW 2 seater coupe modded to 260hp. The cars biggest assest is it's weight and tossability. I bought it pretty stripped as I found the options making the price absurd. But the little thing is a blast and fast!!

BUT while I enjoy the quirky looks of mini's and the paceman the interior makes no sense and frankly just an ugly mess. And so for 37K a 135i all the way.

Mini either needs to ramp up JCW offerings to compete for the price or keep them small, light and cheaper.

I love to smack around bigger more powerful cars in a little mini 2-seat go kart. Audi A5's and ford mustangs come to mind.

I would like to see someone comparing the hottest hot hatch from MINI (the new GP) and the hottest hot hatch from BMW (M135i). The BMW probably still murders the MINI.
