I actually think the Amex Everyday Preferred is the better bet for those using the Blue Cash Preferred. If you think about it, 6% on groceries is great but how much of your monthly spend is actually on groceries? The bulk of your spend is likely in the 1% category, in which case the Everyday Preferred makes more sense. When you hit 30 swipes in a month, you get 50% more points on your total monthly spend. That means gas/travel is 3%, groceries is 4.5%, and everything else is 1.5%. I think you'll find you're missing out on some points. You can have Amex run the numbers for you on the last year of spending to compare (I've done it before). Food for thought.

The AMEX has a yearly fee but I believe if you do x amount in the first month they give you like $150 or so back which makes it free for the first two years.
I filled up yesterday for the first time in a month. And what are "groceries?" Do they come from that funny supermarket store where people buy DIY meals? We see them on our way to the restaurants. Seems like a lot of work hauling all that stuff out to your car so you can haul it into your house and then put it all together for a meal.

Bump for "What's in your wallet" going into 2017?

My AMEX Blue Cash and Citi Diamond Preferred and Double Cash continues to be most used cards offering the lowest APR and rewards!

My credit finally jumped to near 800, so I went on a CC app spree.

Capital One Venture One - promo and miles - they've been good to me for years, so why not, and I was pre-approved - went with V1 over V after checking this site: https://www.moneyunder30.com/capital...travel-rewards

Chase Freedom Unlimited - promo and to get 1.5% - also, don't want to deal with categories, as I already have 1 below. Not an immediate approval. Had to call in to verification and they gave me a monster credit limit, more than I know what to do with.

Discover It - unfortunately categories, but double cashback in first year which is 10%, so I couldn't resist - pre-approved and wanted to add something over than a typical VISA/MC

Congratulations. 775 here. Anywhere near 800 is extraordinary and demonstrates the highest level of "credit management".
Also a huge fan of Capital One! My latest card from them is the Venture One World Elite MC. So impressed with them over the years I stepped outside of my credit union and opened a checking acct with them as well.

I've been using Chase Sapphire Preferred for awhile, love it, but the metal card weighs my wallet down!!!

Haha yeah I bet! I rarely use my wallet though I find it easier to just carry my cards around by themselves

Chase sapphire reserve is the clear winner if you travel a decent amount.

Definitely. I don't travel much outside of taking my family on vacations, so I couldn't justify the annual membership. I settled for the Preferred.

Thanks, 791 on EQ when my credit was ran a couple weeks ago. When I check AMEX, no pre-qualify though, so I checked Discover and pre-approved.

Already got 2 other cars with C1, V1 seemed like the best fit to get miles. I went with Chase Freedom Unlimited to get the 1.5% CB, wanted to diversify rather than having a wallet full of C1. Gonna slow my roll now, got like 6 inquiries on each report.

Make sure to use all of the cards if you are playing the "high credit score" game. If you have unused credit lines, it will decrease your credit score.

I use Costco's Citi card as my primary card. Then, I keep an eye on Discover's 5% cash back categories to use when a purchase is applicable. Gotta stretch every penny, right? I can't afford to tip $20 on the front and $20 on the back end like some ballers here, haha

(first photo is Costco Citi and second photo is an example of the latest Discover Rewards)

The Citi card with $450 annual membership is great if you travel. However, I don't travel nearly enough.

Strange, mine always goes down a couple points when I use it, even with a 1% utilization. I've got about $40K in open credit, so I think I should be good now. Got 0% APR for a while on each of the 3, so I'll be carrying a balance for once.

Not to carry a balance, but to use the card for even a small purchase.

A few months ago, my score went down and then one of the factors mentioned that I had credit lines that were not used. After getting my costco Citi card I only used it and left the other cards at home so to speak. I put some very small purchases on all of the cards and my credit score went back up.

edit: Found the screen shot that I took.

Gotta disagree. One if the highest factors to raise and maintain high scores right there with on time payments is "available credit ratio".
I've monitored my credit for years and I know for a fact that having more available credit raises scores! I try to keep a 5-10% useage. Of course some banks will want to close your accounts or reduce your limits if you go zero activity for extended periods. Amex dropped one of my cards from 20k to 10k the that very reason. I had to call and go off and they raised it back up.
