F20 with auto pilot brake function question

Holla guys ,
I own an f20 mpack 116i with PDC front & rear and auto pilot with brake assistance .
I used to work auto pilot with brake assistance to my father's e65 745i with car auto brakes when the front car brakes also and keeping distance from the front car as requested (10m , 20m etc)

Now i can't find how brake assistance in f20 activates ?
Anyone knows ?
Or it is just brake assistance for marketing tricks ?

Thanks !

As far as I know, the F20 doesn't have a real "radar" cruise control as featured on the F30 and beyond.

Yes, the brake assistance is simply that is uses the brakes to keep the speed going downhill. It has no idea about cars around you.

I thought that because combined usually with front PDC will be similar like more expensive models like e65 .
So defined as bmw marketing trick then .
Thanks guys !

hi! it's like ovekvam said. the adaptive cruise control for the 1 series is that it can brake by itself to maintain the selected speed in a downhill.

Seems like there is now a (similar to i3) camera based adaptive cruise control available for F20/F21s in Europe. I can't find any info/review/feedback on it though.

PDC sensors have a very short range that make them unable to deal with distance management with a car in front when driving.

the parking distance control is only for parking, not for braking the car by itself. I don't know if there is a new optional but I suppose that there isn't..

They have it on the new Mini F56, but I haven't heard about new options for the F20/F21. Maybe a thing for the LCI model next year?

I quote myself to prove me wrong... From the french optional equipment leaflet, there is only a "safety package" (camera based) but it does not contain adaptative cruise control (although this exist on a i3). Only lane departure, city braking, attention assistant etc. Option code is 5AS.

Others have answered the braking question. I like this feature, it's good knowing that on downhill stretches of motorway I'm not going to speed away.

In UK we can opt on the Driving Assist which will at least warn you of a collision but won't actually stop / slow you down: "The Lane Departure Warning includes an integrated camera-based Collision Warning. As soon as the system detects that the vehicle in front is too close, it warns the driver with a display on the instrument panel as well as an acoustic signal.

But I had the same question thinking this was adaptive cruise control which would be awesome on lazy motorway drives.

Don't know about F20, but on my F80, driving assistant also includes city braking. It only works up to a certain speed. I think it's 40kmh. Haven't tried it though lol.
