Hi Everyone

Have ordered a M135i and want to source a full carbon front splitter.

I've found this one..

Emailed BMR AUTOWERKES re the splitter. Not sure how flush it fits. Speaking with my tuning house first before ordering. Just want to make sure its the real deal for $1500 bucks.

Thanks.

Yeah agree on the BMR one, there isn't enough pics from enough angles to fully see how it sits.

Wish M Performance would make one!

hwelvaar, this might seem like a stupid request - but do you have any photos of the car with the splitter from a distance? Just wondering how its from afar.

No sorry, it's not my car on the pictures. Perhaps the manufacturer can provide some more photo's.

Hi nordschleife, I'm new here and am in the market for a front splitter for my M135i. I'm also based in HK so I'd love to get some more info if you can supply one??

I have got to ask... What does it do? And why does it warrant a €1600 purchase?

I'm not known with the function of a splitter (I guess something to do with downforce?) but does the carbon fibre do anything specific? Or is it the looks?

I'm not judging by the way, just curious what is so special about that part

It's a shame BMW haven't developed one similar to the F30 one, which I reckon looks fantastic.

In track racing, like DTM, front splitter is indeed used for aerodynamic purpose, and the splitter nearly touches the ground.
For our (street) cars, it is just for looks. You can spend money on many other parts of the car that will get you better lap times than by adding front splitter.

But it looks cool. It does to me. Probably not to everyone.

But personally I would not fork out 1600 euro for a carbon fibre model.
I would buy the 400 euro 'polyethene' model from LightWeight.

It does provide some front end downforce even on street cars at high speeds. The more it protrudes, the more downforce it will produce, at the cost of drag. The idea is to let air pass under it untouched, while the air over it is compressed by the front of the car. The difference in pressure over the surface of the splitter generates a force.

All I'm saying is: people who install a front splitter on their street car do it for the looks, not for the (little) aerodynamic difference.

for me its 100% looks, i just think they add that bit of aggressiveness needed! I don't want to spend 1600 Euro's but I'm sure there must be a similar product out there which is closer in price to the lightweight model. Prefer the 3D Design one as it sticks out more than the lightweight option.

Westphone, do you have any details regarding the trader so I can contact them?

Thanks al for explaining.. I thought it'd have something to do with aerodynamics, guess I was right it looks nice, though I guess I'd miss it if I didn't know it was there

Sure looks nice, I'll admit that.
