Navigation Professional (SA609) - waiting for HU-NBT

Hey there

i cant find any News about the "new" iDrive Navigation-System ( http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=691510 ) for the 1 Series / 2 Series.

Last week i was able to be the co-pilot of a new F10 5-Series with the all new HU-NBT and i was amazed and hooked of the speed, looking, feeling and all around that.

i was going to order an new 1 Series F20, but now i want to wait until its clear, that my car will get this too.

Is there any Information about?
Production-Date? Release?

Thanks so far

The current Pro Nav system works very well with the IDrive. I have found it very responsive and easy to use. I recently went on a drive where 3 others Ipods were connected during the trip.
The system recognised each of them imediately and showed all their functions instantaniously.
I am not sure what advancements a new system offers but this one works very well.
I have been told it is fully upgradable, so it should be able to have new functions added.

Thin is, I can find no information about a new idrive system, just new navigation.. It's only a few months to the change on the F20/21 and there is no info around.. also, I've hear bugger all from the other cars either. I.e. the ones already meant to have it

Has the switch been delayed perhaps?

BMW will not want to say too much about coming improvments, as it would affect the sales of the current cars if people knew what was coming.

Garage List
My dealer offered to hold my order so the car would be produced in March but I declined. I imagine if I had accepted, there would have been some kind of delay so I would get the joy of waiting an extra six weeks or so and still get the old navi. No thanks, I just want my car asap!

Unfortunately not mate, I wish .. On the F30 they are upgrading the whole system, see below the spec change :

- Intel processor 1.3Ghz (vs Renesas 600Mhz)
- 1GB RAM (vs 512Mb)
- 8GB flash (vs 512Mb)
- Nvidia graphics (vs Fujitsu)
- 200GB hard drive (vs 80Gb)

I am also a bit in doubt if I should delay my order to March/April ..

My take on this is
Car manufacturers always upgrade something-sat nav - front styling- lights- wheels etc etc etc. to entice new buyers or upgraders.
If you 'wait' for the 'next' upgrade you will be waiting forever, or you will have to trade your car in every year to have the latest. Car makers have picked up on how Apple and others now market their products and do these small tweeks to excite new buyers. Unfortunately Cars are somewhat more expensive than Iphones, Ipads and the like.

The current system works well and if you keep your car for more than 3 years it does not matter.

From what I read, the changes are all in the main head unit, so in theory if you have the current 'top' system, the externals should still be there and compatable. You may have to change out the head unit to upgrade. Maybe this is what my dealer meant when he said my system was upgradable.

the annoying thing is though that since that post, there has been absolutely no additional information about the upgrades... has anyone seen them on a production vehicle yet?

Anyone got any news concerning this matter?
Think my order is going in lock tomorrow, and I have ordered Pro Nav.
The estimated delivery date is in week ten, meaning in early march.
If the new system is going to be around soon, it looks like its worth the wait in my opinion.
