Shame about the looks. You knew the performance was going to be on par or even better than the model it replaces but looks is a huge downgrade.

"It's like going out with a girlfriend who's got a wonderful personality, but she smashes mirrors when she looks in them."
I think that's the best line I've ever heard, and quite perfectly sums up the F20 1er. |

If there is one motor journalist I trust, it's Tiff Needell in Fifth Gear.
I've tested both the 170hp 118i as well as the 184hp 120d, and would give the car a 9/10 myself, due to the best handling and best engine qualities of it's class. I deducted 1/10 though for the cheap handle of the glove box I've come to like the front design, especially the M-sport. Since it is controversial it means it's got caracter. Unlike Audi, who continously spits out boring pieces of the same design language they introduced with the A6 in the mid 90's.

Really have to see the new 1er in life; I find it looks very cool myself. An I did not like it when I first saw it in magazine.
I find the front and side are probably best looking among the competitors today. (I do admit the rear lights look a it like the VW Polo). Yet, the interior design reflets the BMW DNA. And the drive quality is good. Don't forget the brilliant fuel consumption in the new 1er. |

Just kidding i know they didn't and thats an even bigger problem. Yes Im hoping they go more aggressive and better proportions with the 2 series we will actually be getting.

Hrmm not much of a review other than to say it does not look very good but the interior is great.
And everyone knows that vehicles are measured in fishpower. |

BMW will rue the day this design comes to the western market.
Perhaps Asia will get on the bandwagon as the better target. Behold the similarity... .

Like any BMW, the base model is not so hot, but a loaded m-sport looks great!
