Retrofit USB - Help

Hi, I have a f20 118i which I bought off the floor, it has the professional radio, iDrive, and Aux.
please give some info on how to first retrofit USB (my iPod will work though the USB), and then how to retrofit Bluetooth.

Thanks

Hi, according to my understanding, and my dealer's explanation, if you have iDrive you should have a USB port...I could be wrong, also it should be easy to retrofit a USB as it means just plugging the USB port on the COMBOX...check with you sales agent or your dealer's Parts & Accessories department.

you have aux and USB.

without the enhanced Bluetooth option, you can plug USB sticks directly into it, or buy the BMW Y cable to plug an iPhone in.

i've had a quote for retrofitting the enhanced bluetooth, it came out at around £3000 including labour. as its a completly different head unit.

hope this helps.

My car also has the aux but no usb . My dealer says they can't retrofit usb ,but as Latito says it should be easy to retrofit a USB as it means just plugging the USB port on the COMBOX if we don't need any upgrade for the idrive menu.(unfotunately I don't have any usb section on the idrive menu so an upgrade must be done.) Still waiting for a retrofit for a usb

The problem is that bmw gives only a few retrofit. I hope they will change this policy in the near future for 1 series.

i don't understand why BMW have so many different parts... it must cost them an absolute fortune manufacturing all the variations.

Why not just make one (head unit in this example), and enable things via software or additional hardware such as enhanced BT with some add-on, to one standard, base HU.

It's just unfathomable why BMW would seemingly make life difficult for themselves whn building their own products.. meh

I'm having the same problem with my F21 M, radio profissional, idrive and only aux port.

I can't find a OEM retrofit kit yet.

Did you solve your problem yet, if yes, how did you find it?

Question

I also have only an AUX port (no usb, no BT). There is also no combox or similar unit at the boot. Any idea on the components needed and if extra wiring is needed?

It would be cheaper to replace your iPod with an iPhone as the iPhone works through USB using BMW's Y cable. You'll need Apples Y cable adaptor to be able to connect Apple's new iPhone or iPod to the Y cable, well I did on my 2012 116i as Y cable is not need on my 2015 116i

I plan to install a NBT unit, so just want to know part number and location for the oem microphone and oem antenna. If anyone has any photos, it would be helpful.
