UK deliveries of 3 cylinder 118i

Does anyone know when production for the UK market moves from the 4 cylinder to the 3 cylinder engine for the 118i?

My dad ordered a 118i Sport yesterday and the dealer was of the opinion it wasn't going to happen, despite it being reported in the motoring press. However the paperwork refers to the B38 3 cylinder engine.

Interesting. In Norway, the 118i does not exist after the LCI was launched. I was hoping for a 136 hp B38 engine. If it comes, I will reconsider buying a new 1-series.

It has the same power, but it is a more modern engine. It sounds better, drinks less fuel, has less pollution, is lighter, and it rev matches the shifts by itself, at least with the manual gearbox in the 218i active tourer.

N13B16 was closed for order 10 days ago in Turkey. From now on you can have the 136hp B38A15 engine for the 118i(pre-lci 116i). I'm curious whether they are going to switch to 1.5 liter on 120i(pre-lci 118i).

Not in Norway. I called my dealer to make them check with BMW Norway if they will reconsider now that there is a new engine. I think it would suit the Norwegian import tax rules well.

Edit: The dealer reported back that they will indeed start selling it Norway as well now. The price will be set next week.

Thanks, I guess that's the general production switch over then.

if that's the case, going for a 2.18i coupe instead of 1.18i would be a great change too.

Not for me. The 2 series is too big for my taste, and it is more expensive and less practical.

I have both a 220i and a 116i 4 door hatch in my garage and their is no notable difference in length or height. If Norway would not tax the locals to death you would have more choices.

The 2 series is 10.3 cm longer, 40 kg heavier, and almost 20 percent more expensive. And it is a lot more difficult to get a bicycle inside.

What's with dress maker sizes I said it's not noticeable and this is how I carry our bikes. Bikes are built for being outside of cars.

One of the reasons why I consider other cars than BMW, is that I think the 1 series is a bit large and heavy, so it would not make sense for me to buy an even bigger and heavier BMW! :-)
