I like this car very much. Cool to have a loaded 1er with no M-Sport. But still with M-breakes, adaptive M-suspension and much more.

Congrats!

Congratulations! Fantastic colour and now somewhat rare compared to the common Alpine White, Estoril Blue and Mineral Grey that one usually sees.

Surprised to hear Adaptive LED headlights on the 1-series. Do you mean Adaptive Xenon Headlights with the LED running lights (angel eyes)? Thus is what I have on my 116i as well

The Adaptive LED headlights are very different and available on 6, 7 series - haven't seen them on 1, 2 series....

I think the 1 series LCI has adaptive LED (not xenon) headlights, which means that the lamps aim the light into the corners. The difference between the 1 series and the more expensive cars, is how the headlight assistant works. In the 1 series, it is simply on/off, while the more advanced system keeps the lights on, and tries to steer it away from oncoming traffic, using a camera system.

It will be interesting to try LED as our new 220i convertible with adaptive xenon and auto high beam lights is so much better than the 2015 3 series GT loner I had for a few weeks. It's the best and cheapest option I added at only 350 pounds.

The adaptive LED headlight (code S552A) is exactly the same than what is found on series 3, 4 and 5. It was an expensive option (extra cost 1500 euros including 20% VAT here in France). I can confirm that it comes with all kind of smart assistance i.e. smart on/off side by side...it is very usefull. The produced light turns also when turning the steering wheel. In day driving mode, there are 4 rings with a very great look.
Another option that I took is the 5DF option which means speed regulation using a true radar mounted below the front bumper with stop and go function. It is really a must have and very reliable and smooth to use. The M135i LCI can not receive this option !

For the HK sound, my ears are not able to say if the difference is that big comparing to the standard sound equipment.

Of course the option #1 is by far the sport auto gearbox. I found also the adaptive suspension useful. In sport mode, the car is much more stiff when turning and breaking.

Regards,

Don't they warn/disclaim in the manual that electronic assisting stuff mustn't be (blindly) relied upon and the driver should rather watch and react appropriately? I hope you mean it works just well (safely tested), not that you drive loosely because of that.

How can that be possible? Do you listen to low quality sources (like "analog" (conventional) radio or those lossy records)? I presume if it were really your ears you wouldn't even have opted the HK...

This is not true. The adaptive LED on 3 series and above split the beam to prevent dazzle to oncoming and leading vehicles, on the 1 Series it simply uses High Beam assist to dip the full beam and swivels the beams when turning. I can assure you it is NOT the same option as the Voodoo lights used on the models higher up the range.

We are talking about to very new LCI models. The new AHL on the 1 series is also able to split the beam. You can check that with an official dealer if you don't believe me. By the way, do you think also that the front radar is not a true one ? For sure it is but is costs half price comparing to the equivalent option on the 3 or 4 series. This is just marketing. Is the autogearbox a true one ? If BMW call it S552A option, it simply has to come with ALL the associated features.

PS: You can get more info with this link on page 32. There is a picture that shows the split function:

I already did check when I placed my 125d order around 2 weeks ago. In the UK at least, there is no voodoo beam split function on the LCI lights, just high beam assist and corner lighting. I am not sure why you are bringing the gearbox and radar cruise into it, they are irrelevant.

Check your BMW website, nowhere on the description for the F20/21 Adaptive LED lights does it mention beam split, because it isn't there.

What a shame is our 220i convertible splits it's lights when following another car or approaching cars. The 320d GT did not.
