New M135i vs. Z4 35

Hi my friend drove around in my M135i around for a few days and was about to purchase one for himself.

However at the same time a nice used Z4 3.5 that's in good condition with low mileage comes into the the market. It looks really nice but we are wondering how it handles compare to the M135i. It has not been modified in anyway, and the current owner doesn't want my friend to blast away in the mountains, so he can't try in that manner.

So if handling is the main concern, should he go ahead with the M135i, or should he go for the more beautiful Z4. Thanks for the advice because Z4s are rare here we really don't have experience with the car.

Thanks.

The Z4 is very old technology and they ride rough. The latest 2 series convertible would be a so much better drive if he is after a convertible. I enjoyed my Z4 but you need to be able to enjoy the roughness of the Z.

The latest generation Z4 looks very nice, but does not have sporty handling at all. The previos Z4 is quicker. So if handling matters, go with the 1-series.

My ex wants to buy a Z4 - I drive a M135i - I'd recommend taking a test drive of the Z4 with the dealer (get a drive out on your own if you can, most will let you if you want an extended test for a few hours but you'll have to appear keen to buy and ask very directly). Umm... well I'm biased towards the 1-series but the Z4 is a beautiful looking thing.

The OEM rft tires on the E89 are very bad. Ride is harsh and grip is limited when paired with 19 inch rims. The M135i is available with much better tires from factory. Otherwise I would say the M135i is easier to drift, probably because it has less weight over the rear wheels compared to the Z4. The M135i also feels more direct and less laidback, which is good or bad depending on what you like... think GT vs sportscar feel... different strenghts. With better tires the Z4 is more comfortable, however depending on whether you choose M sport suspension or not. The seating position is lower and closer to the rear, so you get that roadster feeling, which is something you may or may not appreciate depending on mood and driving purpose.
