F20 depreciation... want an M135i
Bother that Chris Harris guy... with such a good review I doubt the M135i will depreciate enough to buy one soon.
Just wondering what the concensus out here is to F20 depreciation, especially the M135i. As those who saw my earlier postings know, I just picked up an 11 month old, 10,000 mile, F20 120d Sport at a main dealer for £10,000 less than its list price when it was new last October... is there any chance of getting an M135 for early £20k's this time next year? |

If the car looses 50% over three years, it certainly wont be low 20's at year one. But then, all depends on how they sell new and how many then find there way back onto the market. One guy on BMWbaby thinks a fully loaded three year old one would be £20k.

Good point about the 50% at 3 years...
just plugged in some figures to an exponential decay calculator, and for an initial value of 33,000 (what my ideal M135i came to on the configurator) and 3 year figure of 16,500 for the M135i, it comes out at 23.1% pa depreciation to reach the 50% in 3 years... Hence, that gives figures of:- List price 33,000 1 year: 26,193 1.5 years: 23,336 2 years: 20,790 Interesting! What is more interesting, though, is my 120d Sport was list price of 27,370 and I got it for 17,280 at just under a year old. That equates to a depreciation of 45.9% !!... so applying the same figures to a M135i would come out at... List price 33,000 1 year: 20,850 1.5 years: 16,580 2 years: 13,177 Think that's unlikely (or wishful thinking), as there are will be far fewer M135i's around than 120d Sports... or maybe I just got a bargain |

It is unlikely that the M135i will depreciate much within its first year as it is 'in demand' and currently has a waiting time, therefore the price will stay high until there is no lead times on them. It has become a 'must have' so the value will stay high until a newer model comes out. Look at what you pay for a second hand M1 (if you can get one)
You might get a 'thrashed' one cheap after 3 years as it will be out of warrantee |
