I'm too a little disappointed with the milage I'm getting (9l/100km)... granted I've only done 800km so still running the car in... but I'm used to diesel (for the past 6 years and the other car is also a diesel)... just have to fill in the car more often... on that note I might pop out now to the service station

It cost about R580 but I don't think the attendant filled it up to the brim. So could easily be R600 plus from empty

I have a feeling my car isn't running right, I'm averaging over 10 and 11l per 100km and I always drive in eco mode! Barely put it in sports mode and its really irritating me, and I'm trying my best to drive so slowly!

Yes, get your dealer's mechanic to check it out.
You also have to ask yourself 'Why did I buy a 125i'
Was it to get fantastic fuel ecconomy, or was it to have a machine that provides a lot of fun from its 160kw and its massive amount of thrust.

Drive it like you really want to drive it for a couple of thousand kms, then see if your still feel the need for the supper low ecconomy. If you still like the drive and the looks, but have to have it return 4 to 5lts per 100km trade it in on a 116d
I am sorry if this sounds harsh.

No man i agree with you fully Im really enjoying the drive and i enjoy opening it up on the roads and i love the looks, im saying that when the car states that the fuel economy should be good and its not then i worry that theres something wrong even when i drive in eco mode, money is no issue for me as i wouldn't have bought a BMW in the first place, petrol isnt a issue either. Im saying that it should live up to the economy that it said it had! What im saying is that why am I getting 11l/100km in eco mode and with a light foot.. does that mean if i drive the way I want to drive in sport it mean that ill be averaging 15/16l / 100km?

I do agree, the 11l/100km in eco mode and with a light foot is crap ecomomy
Take it back to dealer and have it checked out.
I drive my 125i in 'SPORT' most of the time around town, and the highest it has got to was around the 13lt/100.
I am currently getting around 500km from a full tank of premium 98.

I have had 20 L/100km in the 116i, but I admit that was track driving...
Including track driving, the average consumption since the car was new is 6.8 L/100km. Seems like the 125i is significantly more thirsty.

i did the BMW driver training at Kyalami and was in F30 328i, has pretty much the same engine and we covered around 22 laps between 2 guys and the instructor and the ave fuel consuption of that car was 13l/100km. not sure how much is track use and the instructors private traveling. If you are at 11 driving economically something isnt right. i dont try to drive economically in town cause its mostly a pointless effort. avg 500km per tank and i checked this morning, average since I have had it is 9.6. I drive mostly in comfort and normally change gears around 3500rpm.

Yea i need to take it down to the dealer, maybe because town driving is all I really do? Will give my car another 1000 km to redeem itself as its only reached the first 1000km now. If not dealer here I come!!

Btw, do you always have to use 98 of is 95 fine as well? Is there a difference in what a 116i vs. a M135i would need?

Ahh sitting in traffic yesterday, in eco pro mode, driving like a snail with plenty of stop starts and my fuel economy went to 13.7l/100km, ive done like 85km and a nearly quarter tank is gone, starting to suspect something is really wrong

It's worth bearing in mind that higher/lower altitudes can have an affect on engine performance & consumption. It's no surprise people are experiencing different levels of performance. I know some manufacturers post 'at sea level' consumption performance.

I'm sitting on 11.1 L / 100 after 3000km. Absolutely no way I'm getting 500km out of a tank :-/

Edit: Using nothing but 98 RON.

Also all the figures in the broacher are based on 98RON petrol. If your using supermarket fuel your going to get less performance/ltr per km than premium fuel. Also, how many km have you done in total? I'm seeing better and better economy every tank now, with 4,500km on clock

I do miss the mileage of a diesel engine...
On a better note, the last tank I averaged 8.6 l/100km so it is slowly getting better during the run in period.

That's an eye opener, I always figured the 125i would get more km's than my 320d, being a smaller car and all. I know I have a diesel but I'm getting around 6 L / 100km or over 900 and under 1000km on a 57 L fill up. (car is 4 months old with 5000km) I'm still trying to see the 4.9 per 100km that was said to me it is capable.

Anyway as AusF20 pointed out this car isn't about economy but rather the experience, which just gets better and better each day.
Hey man, what was your fuel consumption at this time per 100km.. Im starting to get really frustrated, been driving in eco all the time, barely revved the car and im doing over 10.5l per 100km... highest ive gotten on a tank is 455.. but why must a tread so lightly?? would hate to know what would happen if I drive happily..

1200 km in my 520d happens now and then. Incredible efficient that car, considering the size.

This is ridiculous... Just hit 370km and have about 60km range. Not like I'm driving around punching it everywhere... how are people getting 500km from a tank ffs?
