Will F20 Come with N55 Engine?
I have heard contradict info about this.
Some people mentioned there will not be any 6 cylinder engine in the future 1 series (including SCOTT), and even the future 1M (M2) will have turbo 4. But on Bimmerfile it said the future 135i will still come with the revised N55 engine. Any authoritative answer available right now? |

Unfortunatly none yet The BMW engine lineup is undergoing some major changes right now with a strong move towards 4 cylinder engines (N20). The 1-series is in the direct crosshairs for this engine flux and so the vast majority of the 1er models will use a turbocharged 4 cyl engine in some form.
What remains to be seen is what will be under the hood of the top of the line variant (135?), the no brainer answer is the N55 6-cylinder, however rumors right now are that the ///M variant will use a turbo 4, which would imply that the standard 135i would actually end up with a 4 cylinder of some kind instead of the N55. Short answer: noone knows yet, we have to wait and see. |

I would be hard pressed to believe there is going to be a 6cyl variant on top of the 245hp/258tq 4cyl in that article.
