Professional Nav Map Update

Just got quoted £330 to update the maps in the professional nav in my M135i. That's crazy! The thing was a £2000 optional extra in the first place!

Any way I can just download the maps and use an FSC(?) code?

I'm I right in saying its CIC-High in the 135i?

If you have the iDrive Touch Controller I think you have CIC-High or NBT. If no touch you have CIC.

It depends on when your car is buildt.

Thats crazy money for a map update. Looks like I'll never update mine for that kind of money. If I cannot find a street because of it being new I'll use my iPhone mapping which has the Tomtom app with FREE UPDATES.

Perhaps, we should start a petition to show BMW that we are not happy and that if they persist with this stupid money grabbing on options and extras they might loose their customers to other manufactures.

Garage List
It is a licensing fee from the map copyright owners, not BMW specifically as I was given to understand when I took this up with BMW UK.

In the UK, this is a £150 charge but an annual update is not always needed - in most cases you won't notice any significant changes unless there have been several new road projects in your area.

More noticeable was the recent software update (not Bluetooth / media) yo the central car computer that has sharpened the rendering of map colours, added new start and closing animated sequences when you are using sat nav guidance, and have added additional icons and features to the screen and dashboard itself.

I've done mine twice since new, May 2013 car with NBT system.

Code about £30-50 and maps downloaded or bought from BMW on a nice USB stick which can then be used for other things.

This guy answered my questions quickly so I bought it from him. He sent out the download link and FSC code via Emal very quickly. He gave instructions on how to do it all and I have successfully updated my maps.

BMW in Australia has just launched a campaign regarding Nav map updates. The price, installed, for my 2013 M135i with Business Nav is $AUD214 inc GST. That's quite a reduction on previous prices quoted...but still too expensive, IMO.
