Hi guys!

I've just picked up my 118i (13/13) with option code 6NH (not extended BT) and I'm really glad to inform that cars produced from 2013 on now suport album cover even on the small 7" screen without the need of the expensive BMW Y cable.

I just plugged my standard iPhone usb cable and it showed all the album art covers and played music and web radios!

No need for Y cable anymore (although I already bought the ebay equivalent one adviced here but it haven't arrived yet). You just need to take your cars to a dealer for the firmware upgrade!

Congrats any pics, specially of the screen with album art work showing? Just a question if you don't have Bluetooth or the y cable how do you use an iPod or iPhone?

It would be great news if this was possible but as above I suspect it's region specific. iDrive really does need album art, the screen looks poor and half arsed with just text. It reminds me of my first mp3 player from way back.

Could you upload the new FW update to share it with us? I think that could be downloaded using your VIN on the BMW Bluetooth update site.

Hi, I just tried downloading the new firmware with my VIN(car is from oct 2012) but didnt get the newest version apparently. I downloaded UPD03002 and I think the newest is UPD01006 according to this link..

I just checked the bmw.com/update page and I can get the UPD1006, so I'll try it later to see if it actually does enhance ipod/iphone connectivity. I have 609 + 6NH, but no extended BT either.

I'm sorry for the delay, guys. Have been kind of busy lately. Specially driving around on my new toy!

Anyway, I have some good and bad news for you all and I'll need your help trying to figure this out.

The good is that it is obviously been improved without the need of the expensive accessory.

The bad is that it may be a mistake. I had to take my car to my dealer today so they could fix an accessory they've installed and the accessories seler tried to push me they overpriced media dock station, and I said I didn't want it because my car already had all the compatibility w/o that pricy sh*t. He got surprised and all mad saying that this was a glitch and it wasn't supposed to do all this because not even the 7 series sold in Brazil could do that without the media dock accessory.

So he said he's inform BMW so they could block all future cars from having this comming to Brazil and block this on my car on my next visit to the dealer for warranty visit. OBVIOUSLY I'm very mad if that's true...

I hope you can help me verify if that's really a manufacturing "mistake" or if that's really the newest version of iDrive.
