Shiny the fish - Jaye's Betta

So for the past couple of months I have this Betta (female)

Actually for daughter, to prove she can be responsible with animals,
but it is turning quickly into daddies very addictive hobby.

She's called shiny. because she is (according to daughter) just re-housed her from her 0.75 gal tank, into a 2.5 gallon tank (limited for *******
I'll have to post some pics.

The new tank has a LED light in the top, and it's so bloody therapeutic at night, watching her swim around.

She goes mad crazy when I come up to the tank, she knows its feeding time !

Anyone else into fish

I hear you should always get at least two Betta's because if you have just one it will get lonely.

I'll get some tonight LOLZ

Betta's are weird, males can't be kept together as they fight, nor male/ female's (unless breeding) and afterwards the female often kills the male LOL

but you can put females together, commonly called "a betta sorority", but I'll need a bigger tank, as they get quite territorial

That's pretty cool! A friend of mine got me into the hobby of saltwater fish and corals, I jumped right into a 90gal system and haven't looked back. He also had a 90gal and a couple years ago upgraded to a 180gal system.
His tank has a lot more growth than this old picture, and he has LED's over his tank, which show up really blue.

Also look up forum member "shopvac" he has a REALLY nice saltwater setup in his home.

That's a pretty sweet tank. I have had many tanks and fish for years. At one time I had two freshwater tanks and a salt. Now I have just a 60 gal salt with only a few damsels and porcupine puffer. Tanks take a lot of work( and money) and since having a kid, house and BMW my fish tank time along with several other hobbies has been cut way short. But, I am glad to have really get immersed in this hobby at one time in my life.

I had a 120 gal salt water tank (Berlin Style) with a large Grouper and a crab.

I'd feed them shrimp and squid - the Grouper would taunt the crab with the shrimp.

Salt tanks are a TON of work....sold my setup after 2 years.

Thank you. Yeah they are definitely more work than freshwater. I used to have to go to a local fish shop and buy de-ionized water and saltwater, not only was it heavy to lug all these containers around it was time consuming. I can now make reverse osmosis/de-ionized water and mix my own saltwater at home. Also I have a 20gal reservoir and an automatic top off system to add fresh water as it evaporates. As well as a decent size protein skimmer and sump to help keep the water pretty clean and clear. It was much more difficult in the beginning , and now it's pretty easy to keep up with maintenance.

I want to build a dedicated "fish room" or use some garage space to make everything even easier! Like automatic water changes, and mixing of saltwater etc.. something like this.

It's easier (and MUCH cheaper) to own dogs, Donkey's, and goats

That's a pretty serious setup--if you spend the bucks things get more automatic.

I would consider this over the top, takes up a lot of sq ft. What sits on the other side of the wall is amazing though!!
