As long as you have the spare parts (which are quite expensive), then it is done quite easily. I do not know if it needs coding or not. I have done the same to my previous car (Z4 E85) and it took the authorised service less than a day to install the OEM Xenon lights.

Another route maybe waiting for good aftermarket ones to come out. Although it seems lots regions make it difficult to install them afterwards....

How do I find out what parts are required?

If it's anywhere near 7% the value of the car it's probably not worth it.

Many thanks!

Check here: www.realoem.com, which parts are different between standard and Xenon lights. From memory, you need light switch, light module and the complete light cluster (including bulb, ballasts and igniter). To be 100%, only a knowledgable auhtorised service will tell you exactly what you need.

However, at a cost (at least here in Greece) of around 1.600 Euro on spare parts you are close to the 7% of the cars total value.

a £2000 option on a £20000 car is 10% of its value.... there goes Pro Nav on a 116i.

All percentages are relative!

So I guess Navi is relatively cheaper here in Norway then, as a 116i is a €40000 car here! :-)

Exclamation RTFM

Guys,

Long story and sorry to cut across this thread but thought it was relevant. I have 2 x used complete F20 Xenon headlights available. ill give you a quick version of the story!

Ordered a new M135i, As i need the car urgently, i had to take one which is in stock (which has the options already added to the car) i had two quotes, one with Xenons, one without Xenons. I decided to take the cheaper option (the one without the Xenons).

After the order went in, i started to panic about not having Xenons, as i have a Mercedes Benz C350Cdi AMG Sport + which has the best Xenon lights i have ever had.

So i decided to take someone's advice on this forum which was if you see any for sale on Ebay, buy them, they are easily retrofitted.

So i did, and now i have 2 x used (in very good condition) F20 Xenon headlights

Now i learn that the quote i had from the dealer showing no Xenon's on was incorrect and that the new car that i have now purchased, which i collect on Monday 16th Sept has the Xenons as standard.

I can send some pics if anyone would like to see them?
Obviously i don't need two lots

Im sure the xenons come as standard on all M135i's? That was my understanding. Glad i picked them, best optional extra in my opinion. Enjoy the car!

Yep, you cant buy an M135i without xenons, all come stock from the factory with them...
Good choice of bulbs here for those with xenons, or going to retrofit

Personally I've always stuck with Philips, but might have to give the Osrams a run sometime in the future. For everyone else who has not yet ordered their car, always tick the xenon box. Once you try them you will never ever go back to halogens...

And when you sell your car, you will get that extra cost for the option back.

Are any other parts required to be bought in order to retrofit halogens with full xenon units as you've purchased? (still got them available? )

I've really had enough of my awful halogens!

you can buy it without xenons, it depends on the market, in Serbia neather xenons or automatic AC are part of standard equipment for m135, I paid extra for xenons and I am probablz the only one with manual AC in m135
