The girl comes with the car, that's one way they'll sell these like hot cakes.

The designers appear to have been playing angry birds when they were shaving the clay. I hear the angry birds song every time I see the new One.

On a positive note; The girl and the background (river & city view) look very appealing

that looks damn good! you can clearly see what they tried to do with the front bumper and grill area. I like that a lot

The front end kind of reminds me of a Star Wars stormtrooper. The interior is an improvement, though.

its way more acceptable-looking in dark blue. but this fckd-face look had better not trickle down to the M2...

They were going for a retro look on the front end, like the 2000 CS, I think.

Every comment is about the look, and nothing about the 'no fun to drive' verdict? And we wonder why BMWs don't drive like they used to - their customer base is more interested in appearances...

I hear you, but in this case a lot of us are finding the looks to be beyond what would be acceptable even if the car drove well. Now that it apparently isn't even that fun to drive, I don't know what to say.

Maybe what they want to do is to make a car that is very mainstream, with an attention grabbing looks to say that it's a bimmer. Even so, they will end up disappointing a lot of existing customers.

Finally someone with the proper perspective on why this new 1 series is more a styling exercise to try and get buyers who now want smaller, high mpg cars, rather those of us who want a lighter more fun to drive automobile.

I like my 135i, but it's not the best handling BMW I've had.
My E46 325i with sport handled a bit better, with less under steer, and didn't pitch as much as my 135i sport.
The power of the N54/N55 is wonderful, and I think a lot of drivers are willing to forgive the handling negatives.
However, once the thrill of the power becomes more familiar you're left wanting in the handling department.

I was hoping to read that the new chassis was going to improve the handling, but from this review it seems BMW decided that aspect was not as important as trying to give more LEGROOM for rear passengers?
That tells me that this car was more designed for the growing number of people who need and want to downsize to get better MPG, and not for driving enthusiasts.
Shame.

I hope that BMW really does address the handling with the sport package tuning, and simply add firmer and lower springs.
Sounds like a true handling package will be needed that addresses the issue more comprehensively.

BMW, I'm waiting. You've got till next spring to get something better into the hands of the automotive testers. I need to order my next car by early June. If what I want doesn't happen I'll be moving on.

I have not read a stunning new BMW review except for the new M5.

Audi 8 over BMW 7
Audi 6 over BMW 5
Audi Q5 over BMW X3
Audi TT over BMW Z4
Audi S4 over my BMW 335i coupe/sports (close though)

Hope the new 4 and 2 changes things up, and look good. Else I could be moving on.
